Purpose[edit]

What is the purpose of this article? It just seems to be a re-hashing of each team's page. Markvs88 (talk) 18:22, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Its to give big picture here of hockey in CT:

Many of the individual team pages will give a blurb stating "Market Preceded by" or "Market Succeeded by", but its difficult to navigate between all these pages to figure out each cities teams. Further, some articles are currently so short, that they could easily be consolidated into this page if need be.
Plus, there is content here, especially after the whalers departure, that isn't appropriate elsewhere. For example, topics such as recruiting a new NHL team in Hartford are irrelevant to the defunct Whalers team, as per several long topics on the discussion page, because the Whalers/Hurricane's franchise is not involved in the process. Where does this information go? On the Whalers discussion page many suggested this kind of information would fit in a more general page about Hartford sports.

Well that certainly makes more sense then. I would suggest a reformatting of the page though: Consider putting the four cities under a heading of "Franchises" or "Cities" or something like that, then make new sections for History, Notable events or incidents, Notable players, etc. Maybe break out the Whalers into an NHL section too. You could really expand this into a good article. Anyway, I've rated this article for CT of High importance (it is state-wide), but Start for class. It's borderline C (it is well cited, has a couple of photos) but currently is more of an evolved list. With work it could easily make B. Good luck with it, let me know if you'd like any help. Ideas for expansion[edit]

Other teams that may have been missed

Roller Hockey[edit]

This article could be expanded to include all professional hockey in connecticut if it includes professional roller hockey teams. Currently there are two in CT and they are the Hartford Fire Ants and the Glastonbury Fire Ants. There is already a Hockey article which breaks up Roller hockey, field hockey and street hockey (et al) into seperate topics, so combining them here wouldn't really be a great idea. However, there is a page for the Hartford Fire Ants, and if you wanted to create a Roller hockey in Connecticut or somesuch page... go for it! Markvs88 (talk) 14:59, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

From WP:NFTABLE, "The use of non-free images arranged in a gallery or tabular format is usually unacceptable, but should be considered on a case-by-case basis."

As this article is discussing the history of numerous hockey teams, it is appropriate to include the logos to properly identify and differentiate teams per Wikipedia:Logos, especially for teams not portrayed elsewhere in the encyclopedia. I would be open to ideas of a non-tablural format, but not sure how it could convey information as compactly. --Zfish118 (talk) 22:19, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Actually including those files is against policy. If the individual teams are notable enough to have their logo on Wikipedia it should be in the article about the team. If they are not notable enough then you run into issues with NFCC#8 otherwise it is an issue with NFCC#3 --Werieth (talk) 02:43, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
