Compilation or Anthology[edit]

As per WP:BRD, what is the correct term to use for Proof, is it compilation or anthology? Paper9oll (🔔📝) 12:23, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Big Hit described Proof as "anthology album" but I think it is the same as compilation album, maybe? PepeBonus (talk) 12:28, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@PepeBonus Yes anthology album is commonly referred to as compilation album, of which the article anthology album is redirect to compilation album. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 12:33, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Paper9oll @PepeBonus An anthology album can be a compilation but not every compilation is an Anthology. exemple , BTS the best is just a compilation not an anthology. I SAY MAMAMOO : the Best is a compilation not an anthology. An Anthology is not the same as a compilation album. Not every compilation album is an Anthology Noturbusiness98 (talk) 12:42, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Noturbusiness98 Sorry but couldn't understand what you're even trying to say, you seem to be contradicting yourself that anthology album can be compilation album but compilation album cannot be anthology album, huh what??? And also, I also couldn't see any differences between BTS, the Best and I Say Mamamoo: The Best with both consisting of a newly released single as part of the album and also previously released tracks, of which Proof would also be similar in terms of track listing. @Paper9oll An anthology is more specific about The whole career of an artist, it is made as a reflection to either close a chapter of the career or End the career it self. Neither "BTS, the Best" and "I Say Mamamoo: The Best" are Anthologies. Those compilations are either to regroup songs that are the best of or put a series of Albums that have a link together like "Love Yourself: Answer". Anthologies tell a story of the career of the artist. This is why you don't see neither Mamamoo or BTS call their previous Compilations as Anthologies. I didn't contradict myself. Its just That Compilations and Anthologies are put in the same box but are meant for different things. Exemple Beatles Anthology 1 is part of a compilation of Anthologies of 3 volumes Noturbusiness98 (talk) 13:17, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Noturbusiness98 Erm okay ... I don't really find your explanation compelling as the album structuring looks similar to me. Waiting Carlobunnie to give her view on this as it was initially written as anthology album by Carlobunnie when the article was created but was later rewritten as compilation album by PepeBonus with mentions of anthology album (the current revision) of which Carlobunnie didn't revert on when she edited the article on that day hours later. A compilation is an album that gathers old songs, like BTS, the Best; an anthology gathers old songs, remastered ones, remixed ones, demos, never heard ones, etc. The first tracklist for Proof has been released and one of the tracks included is Born Singer, which was only uploaded on Soundcloud, so that fits the definition of anthology album. Even if that wasn't the case, BH described Proof as an anthology, and so do all of the articles written about it. So just based on that I would use anthology. - Ïvana (talk) 15:21, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ïvana Your explanation sounds more promising and compelling, feel free to correct the necessary changes required. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 15:28, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ïvana Yeah I also said that Bighit decribed it as an Anthology and so the articles that talk about it in Paper9oll talk page. Also a change i would suggest is in the infobox to change Compilation to Anthology. But you can do whatever. I think your changes are good. @Paper9oll im happy we came to an agreement! I was asleep so my apologies for not partaking in the conversation when tagged. I was guided by the Beatles Anthology album articles when I wrote the stub, so I used very particular wording (not mentioning "first"). I didn't revert Pepe's edit because, while I disagreed with their changes, I just didn't have the energy to challenge it. Instead, I asked for clarification about the wording on the WP:ALBUMS talk page, because I wanted advice before doing anything (don't think anyone replied yet though). I still think what I originally wrote was fine and concise, but I guess multiple sentences are preferred instead of just the one? Wrt to the infobox coding, I honestly forgot about it. I was so focused on the rest of the stub that it completely slipped me to update that. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 19:12, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@PepeBonus I though we were all agreeing to leave it as An Anthology album in the infobox too Noturbusiness98 (talk) 06:38, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@.Solidest changed the code in infobox https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Proof_(album)&diff=1086890343&oldid=1086853250 but I think we can categorize on both anthology and complilation. PepeBonus (talk) 07:32, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alright Noturbusiness98 (talk) 12:24, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@PepeBonus Any reason for restoring ", and fourth Korean-language compilation album (seventh overall)", because the above comments points to referring the release as [first] anthology album rather than referring it as both. For the Infobox param, Solidest changed it from Anthology to compilation because Anthology was actually categorized as under others per Template:Infobox album/color of which I wasn't previously aware of when I replaced compilation with Anthology.
