Title does not cover the contents[edit]

The States of Friesland were the governing body of the province of Friesland in the Habsburg Netherlands and the Dutch Republic and they ceased to exist after the Batavian Revolution. The article deals with the political body that was constituted under the Kingdom of the Netherlands and is known (in translation) as the Provincial States of Friesland. This switch of titles is unfortunate as there is ample employ for an article about the historical States. I was just now frustrated from using a wikilink to such an article from John Adams where it is reported that the States of Friesland were the first of the Dutch provincial governments to recognize the U.S. in 1782. A wikilink to this article would provide the wrong information. I suggest as a stopgap measure someone could write a section on the history of the States of Friesland, though this still would not be sufficient, as the modern body is not known as the "States of Friesland" and calling it that is an anachronism.--Ereunetes (talk) 22:56, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The simplest solution seemed to be to provide the article about the historical States of Friesland, and make the article about the Provincial States of Friesland part of it. I left that unchanged. Hope this is satisfactory.--Ereunetes (talk) 22:04, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
