How To Issues[edit]

Wikipedia is not a how to guide, and this mantis is a wild animal first, and a pet second. However, this article devotes the majority of its information to instruction on how these mantises are kept in captivity, not biological facts about the animal itself. Information about the hobby of mantis keeping can be posted in a how to guide outside of wikipedia, or added to the article on the hobby. The article on P. virescens should be devoted to information about the mantis itself, not the hobby of keeping it as a pet. After all, the majority of these mantises live in the wild, keeping them as a pet is a recent, artificial condition that only relates to a minority of the species. As such, I am diminishing the section on keeping them as pets, removing any opinions or how to advice, and rewording the rest as statements of fact. If anyone has information on the actual diet of the mantis in the wild, it should be posted, the diet of the mantis in captivity has very little to do with the species and more to do with the hobby (you will observe that most of the "pet care" sections for different species all say the same thing.)Avgusztyn (talk) 00:35, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

OK, thanks. I guess they eat mostly flying insects like butterflies and flies and bees in the wild. Sorry that I did not reply earlier. I did not know much about this place and still do not.
