Three topics in one?[edit]

Today I made some significant changes to this page over many edits which I want to document here for any other interested editors. It seems to me that the page was a mash-up of at least three only loosely related things:

  • The non-controversial psychological treatment of BEHAVIORAL disorders (hair-pulling, chronic picking, etc)
  • The non-controversial psychological treatment of a delusional skin condition, Morgellons. (This appeared just once in a list of conditions.)
  • The controversial concept that psychology can heal REAL skin aliments.

After doing some research including using some of the citations, it seems to me that the first two topics really are not directly related to psychodermatology, and this article should only be about the third. Therefore I removed that material and revised what remained accordingly.

I also modified the lede so it is CLEAR that this is what psychodermatology is about. Let me know if anyone sees this differently. If I am missing the boat and all of this falls under this topic, I believe there should at least be subsections to explain the differences.

Note that the the first 4 citations should be reviewed to see which are actually applicable to the material remaining. RobP (talk) 21:52, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
