Proposal to Merge to Mike Huckabee article[edit]

I propose merging this article with Mike Huckabee.

If it is about the "public image" there shouldn't be talk of his fiscal or social policies in regards to his political positions as governor.

There already is an article Political positions of Mike Huckabee and an article titled Electoral history of Mike Huckabee

The section titled "Personality" is unencyclopedic.

The two sections titled "Perception from conservatives" and "Perception from liberals and Democrats" are weasel words in themselves. Perception of Rush Limbaugh is not the perception of all conservatives. Perception of a "self described liberal" with no citation as to where he describes himself as such and even looking for the quote myself I could not find it anywhere. Even if he does describe himself as a liberal, the opinion of one liberal is hardly encyclopdia worthy in itself nor does it speak for all liberals.

The dubiously sourced Mike Drudge 'exclusive' that announced the position of the "highest levels of the Demcratic party" can't be considered a reliable, unbiased source, taking into account that "highest levels of the Demcratic party" is a weasel, that a sensationalistic right wing political gossip page is obviously biased, especially when talking about the opposition but also considering that 32% of his 'exclusives' have proven false while an additional 32% have no verifiable source.

Once the political positions, electoral history, unencylcopedic and weasel is edited out, it should fit nicely in the Mike Huckabee bio article.--DCX (talk) 20:55, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Many national-scale American politicians have similar articles. Not sure if Huckabee should but they are certainly not unheard of. - Schrandit (talk) 23:41, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am strongly against merging. I created this article in the first place. I don't see how this article can be merged considering there is a lot of info pertaining to Huckabee's public image. Are you going to get rid of some info?--Jerzeykydd (talk) 01:00, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi Jerzeykydd, I wouldn't delete your researched work without discussing it, that would be disrespectful. That's why I have opened dialogue. My proposed edits and changes are above in detail if you would like to discuss them.

What was your idea to create a separate page for his public image? Four separate pages to discuss an ex- governor is a lot. To Schrandit's point, I also would question Giuliani having so many separate page as an ex-mayor of a city.--DCX (talk) 01:55, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • He gets a seperate article because #1 he was a presidential candidate (a major one) and #2 he's an extremely controversial figure. Look at the material in the page, there is a lot of it. If there was very little material, then it would be a different story.--Jerzeykydd (talk) 02:01, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I do see your point, however, do you think these important issues may be getting shoved in the dark part of the back closet, by not being a part of his bio? What do you think of the specific points I have pointed out? if we eliminate them, the article isn't that long. That doesn't mean it's not legitimate, but more people would see your contribution if it was merged to his bio.--DCX (talk) 02:07, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unbalanced tag[edit]

I added an unbalanced tag to the social ideology section because it only deals with those who are critical of his beliefs. There are plenty of people who agree with him. NYyankees51 (talk) 20:35, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
