Rap production[edit]

This guy produced for Too Short, Ice Cube, LL Cool J, 2pac. Any mention is absent from this article. This is odd, because production for other artists is really the only field in which QD3 has achieved widespread success.

As I understand it, production for multi-platinum musicians fits the criteria for notability. The guy claiming 'notability is not inherited' has a history of false speedy deletion tags.

Revised the article[edit]

I'm the author of the article. The former version was based directly on what was written in 'Q: The Autobiography of Quincy Jones' and contained no gossip. I have however revised the article. It is my hope that it is now better suited for Wikipedia. Kcasares 12:55, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is. I withdraw my complaints. And thanks for helping to expand on neglected topics! --Tsaddik Dervish 12:06, 18 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Manual of Style[edit]

A lot of stuff in this article seems a bit gossipy and not really suitable for an encyclopedia. If there are no objections I will (in a couple of days) alter the article significantly. Tsaddik Dervish 07:24, 16 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia[edit]

"The first letter his parents received after he was born came with a $5000.00 bond from family friend Frank Sinatra."
Would that be 5000 dollar and 0 cents, or is the comma misplaced and should it be 500.000 (500 thousand dollar)? Just wondering since I want to translate this article to Dutch. Thanks in advance -- Sander 11:12, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is no comma, that is a period. It is supposed to be $5,000 bond, but $5000.00 is the same thing.--Hndsmepete 15:16, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of information on background[edit]

I noticed that in previous versions of this page, it lists his background, meaning who is parents are. Is there a reason why this is not included in the current version? I would think this is a very important fact, especially since Mr. Jones does share his father's name. Johmbolaya (talk) 06:27, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Again as I stated in Kidada's article about the ethnic background, All three people (Rashida, Kidada, and QIII) have the same father why isn't black used for the father and in Rashida's he is referenced as western african. Can you get all these people background correct. They are "black". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.57.39.66 (talk) 16:21, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removed unsourced, promotional, copyrighted content[edit]

I reverted the article to the 4 December 2009 version in order to undo the addition of a large amount of text that appears to have been copied verbatim from this "official" bio of the artist. -- Black Falcon (talk) 17:10, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recent expansion[edit]

{{help}} Is anyone keeping an eye on this article? Every now and then there is a large expansion made and it becomes decidedly unwiki, promotional, tabloidesque, etc. Would be great if someone would watch it. Sorry I can't for personal reasons. This has now taken place again in the last few days. I do not question these contributors' good faith, but there may be some lack of knowledge about how to write Wikitext and what should go in and what should not. As it looks today it is not a credit to English WP, nor to Mr. Jones who I think deserves better, i.e. a good WP article. SergeWoodzing (talk) 17:47, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, people are watching this page - but like all editors, they are volunteers, and may not have the time to always notice and/or do anything about it. It is now on my watchlist (along with almost 7700 other pages!), but that does not mean that I will necessarily notice any changes, or have the time to respond to them - like you, I am a volunteer, and have a real-life away from Wikipedia. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 19:31, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The drastic edit done by another editor now will enable anyone who wants to build the article up again, this time properly sourced, to do so. I have contributed a source for his parentage. That's about all I can do here. Let's hope someone else knows more, and can source more. SergeWoodzing (talk) 20:26, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not notable[edit]

Quincy Jones is notable but Quincy Jones III is not. Notability is not inherited. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nicweber (talkcontribs) 22:51, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
