RV[edit]

i removed the whole RGV ki aag section here, it was written by a user who obviously had a personal agenda. critisising the work of RGV. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.142.155.83 (talk) 14:46, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article needs a overhaul[edit]

1. The Early years - Section needs citations. There is a biography on IMDB, but information from RGV interviews would be better.

2. Career - All we have is a list of films in Telugu and Hindi with a line each on a few of them. More background is needed on each film.

3. Awards - Which awards did he win for Bhoot etc? The only win I find is the Filmfare critics award for Satya.

4. A filmography is needed - films he has written, directed and produced in Hindi and Telugu, chronologically.

Verma also gave story to Mani Ratnam's Donga Donga in telugu and tiruda tiruda in Tamil.
He also gave a screen play to some scenes in the film. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.243.173.167 (talk) 04:17, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This really isn't the right place to ask. This page is not for a general discussion of Varma; rather, it's only for discussing improvements to the article. Qwyrxian (talk) 22:34, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Varma in 2010

Clarifying misleading content[edit]

In this edit I cut a really poorly written, vague statement, "Varma is credited with revolutionizing the Indian film industry, and altering its profile." The evolution of this phrasing is interesting, because it begins here in an edit by Arichuvadi, who was determined conclusively to be a sockpuppet of Padmalakshmisx. Per WP:REVERTBAN, "Anyone is free to revert any edits made in violation of a ban, without giving any further reason and without regard to the three-revert rule."

Since I don't have to assume good faith of a de facto banned sock operator, I can assume instead that it was an attempt to inflate the importance of the subject by saying broadly that "Varma is credited with revolutionizing the Indian film industry"--in the lead, no less. In fact, the original reference, (which itself is dubious as a reliable source) makes it clear that it's an exaggerated statement that speaks specifically of his use of cheap small cameras, his "flow-cam" system, which result in a reduced size of production units. By no stretch of the imagination is there any claim that Varma is widely considered to have revolutionized the entire Indian film industry, which is what the wording strongly comes across as saying. The other aspect of "revolution" in the article simply refers to Varma using a different system of distribution. There again is no evidence that any actual "revolution" has taken place, or that he is widely considered to have revolutionized anything. The other reference that follows the most recent iteration of this claim, this doesn't say anything about revolutionizing anything and seems to relate to the receipt of six Nandi awards.

So, the options as I see them:

  1. Cut the sentence, which I did.
  2. Restore elements of the "flow-cam" content somewhere other than the lead, and written in such a way that (gasp!) it's consistent with WP:NPOV. However, since I'm still questioning AmericanBazaarOnline, any attention to flow-cam needs to come from established reliable sources, until we establish the site as a reliable source. Occupation[edit]

There appears to be a dispute regarding Ram's occupation. His official occupation is director and producer. Calling him the "craziest porn director of India" is not an occupation, but a personal opinion. This violated Wikipedia WP:NPOV policy. Furthermore, there is no mention of porn in the article except for one source that's only listed in references that discusses his autobiography. I do not believe this quote should be stated in his bio. As well, just because he released one porn video doesn't make him "craziest porn director of India", as well it is still not his occupation. He has directed many things besides porn. He produced the porn video, he is a producer. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:44, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
