border of Westwood / Rancho Park -- it's not S.M. Blvd[edit]

The area between Olympic/S.M.Blvd is Westwood, not Rancho Park.

Westwood (or "Westwood Hills") went all the way to Pico originally (see original Janss map at [1]) – it was split off at Olympic for Rancho Park only later in the late 30s when Olympic was extended through the area, bisecting it (see 2004 LA Times article [2]). : “ . . . residents south of the newly extended Olympic Boulevard clamored for their own identity by the late '30s. "We thought it was time to have our own community and separate ourselves from Westwood," said Bob Hindall, longtime area resident. "Many names were suggested, but pioneer real estate broker Bill Heyler is credited with naming the area Rancho Park."

The following coordinate fixes are needed for

Rancho Park. It should be located east of 605 and south of Olympic. Where it is on the map now, it is in Sawtelle (West Los Angeles Neighborhood Council). Communities Bordering Rancho Park[edit]

Westwood Village is not south of Rancho Park (where I lived for five years in the mid 1970s). South of R.P. is the Los Angeles community of Palms. North of R.P. is part of West L.A. (where I lived for seven years starting in 1978), then Westwood Village (where I worked for 11 years in the 1980s and '90s). West of R.P. you could call either West L.A. or the L.A. communities of Sawtelle and Westdale (although I never heard it called Westdale). I never ventured east of R.P.
