North of Villeneuve Road[edit]

I don't understand why "(Hogan Road)" and "(St. Albert Trail)" are listed in the Interchanges and intersections section list after "Range Road 255" and "Highway 2" respectively when these names do not apply to the roadways in Sturgeon County (as far as I know), where these future interchanges or intersections will exist. Also, if these are going to be included within the list, and if Highway 2 is the north end of the road in the infobox, I don't understand why Sturgeon County doesn't also appear in the infobox.

On a related matter, is there a source that shows the future intersection with Range Road 255? I haven't found one (or much at all of the functional plan to the north beyond St. Albert). I see a recommended interchange location for the St. Albert Airport (Township Road 544) according to the first reference in the article, but according to the same reference this planning project was not yet complete at the time of the presentation.

I am going to add the missing future intersection with Highway 37 to the Interchanges and intersections section, although I don't know where it should be in relationship to the Range Road 255 intersection. Hwy43 (talk) 07:19, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

All I knew about this road, when writing this article, was that it was the City's initiative, that it would connect with Highway 2, and the City map doesn't show the entire alignment yet. I thank you for providing a map with the north of City limits proposal, and I have used it to complete the list, with interchanges, and coordinates. Hogan Road was listed because I knew it had to be crossed to get to Highway 2 (even is it's an underpass, it would still be listed), and the "St. Albert Trail" name was used because I didn't know how far from the city it would connect. Now with this map, I see it will be Range Road 254, rather than 255 (because of the correction line), and that this new realignment will strip the Highway 2 name from St. Albert Trail, leaving the Trail the only name that can be listed. I did not know that Highway 37 would be involved. How does it look now? 117Avenue (talk) 05:39, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well that is a perfectly reasonable explanation of the misunderstanding. ;o) Thanks!
From various reliable sources, we do know the road will become the new Highway 2. However we don't know when the realignment will strip "Highway 2" from the current alignment. Once the alignment is formally gazetted and designated by the Province, it could appear as Highway 2X on AT's progress chart mapping prior to construction (like the numerous other planned bypasses in Alberta), and even carry that number for a period after construction (like Hwy 16X west of Edmonton for years before finally being renumbered Hwy 16). If it does strip it immediately upon construction completion, Hwy 2 may become Hwy 2A. As such, I recommend removing "St. Albert Trail" in favour of "Highway 2" or "Highway 2 (current)" in the second-last entry in the list. I'll take a closer look at the changes to the article later today. Hwy43 (talk) 16:15, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, some things do take a long time. And they seem to take longer in St. Albert. 117Avenue (talk) 02:13, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My only other observation is that the first reference in the article doesn't confirm that there will be either an overpass or underpass at RR254. Hwy43 (talk) 04:22, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, with the crossing halfway between township roads, 254 could just be closed. 117Avenue (talk) 03:21, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
