Scientific names have values in parenthesis[edit]

Pied stilt Himantopus (himantopus) leucocephalus, White-backed stilt Himantopus (himantopus/mexicanus) melanurus, and Black-necked stilt Himantopus (himantopus) mexicanus all have a value in parenthesis between the genus and species, but there is no explanation for this on this page and no reference to it on any of the species pages. I don't know if this is implying that the taxonomy is disputed, specifying a subgenus, or something else, but it is confusing. It should either be explained or removed.
