The original "Smokey and the Bandit" was filmed partially in Redan and the surrounding area in 1977.[edit]

Starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field and Jackie Gleason. If you check the movie you will see some of Redan. In particular is a scene with Jackie Gleason in a police car at the intersection in Redan with the road signs clear in the shot.
