Redmi 1Xiaomi Red RiceMost of the sources I found for this phone call it the Red Rice (or Hongmi in China), and if you search "Redmi 1" on Google, most of the results are for the Redmi 1S, which is a different smartphone. The only place I found calling it a Redmi phone was in its GSMArena page, but even there it is called just the "Xiaomi Redmi" instead of Redmi 1, and it give alternative names as Red Rice and Hongmi. I'm not sure this phone is even notable enough for a Wikipedia article, or just a section the Xiaomi or Redmi articles, but as for the name I haven't found any other sources calling it the first Redmi, as most of the search results for this phone only come when searching up Xiaomi Red Rice. 9ninety (talk) 14:51, 24 April 2022 (UTC) — Relisting.  ASUKITE 20:16, 6 May 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. 晚安 (トークページ) 16:08, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, the only reference provided in this article is the GSMArena page for the Redmi 1S, which doesn't support the claim that a phone by the name of Redmi 1 even exists. (Edit: I have replaced the reference with the one for this phone.) 9ninety (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 14:56, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
PhoneArena calls this phone Xiaomi Hongmi, which may also be an alternative suggestion to move this article since "Red Rice" is the English translation of Hongmi.9ninety (talk) 03:30, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
After limiting search results to the phone's time frame and digging for sources for its international release, it turns out that the phone was renamed to Redmi for its international release, so maybe instead this article should be moved to Redmi (phone)? 9ninety (talk) 03:48, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Move to Redmi (phone), a similar format to many articles about the first game in a video game franchise such as The Sims (video game) and Grand Theft Auto (video game). I remember this being released as 紅米手機 in Hong Kong and creating a big splash at the time due to its low price. 紅米 can either be literally translated as Red Rice, Romanized as Hongmi, or as Redmi (a mixture of both); 手機 means cell phone. Of the three options, Redmi is the most recognizable to English-language readers. 𝖿𝖾𝗆𝗂𝗇𝗂𝗌𝗍 (talk) Слава Україні! 11:39, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
