History merge

Background

I just removed content that was restored in a revert earlier because the "background section is for background". But the content that I removed was about an entirely other album. By that logic, this EP could list all previous works by this artist, and all of the work of the other producers and musicians leading to this album. I suspect that is is an EP leading to a full-length work implies that the background makes more sense in the subject's album, not here for various reasons, including WP:NOTNEWS. Selfish Love as a single

Neel.arunabh, may I ask why you are continuing to remove "Selfish Love" as a single in the infobox, with no source to say it was "not released to promote this EP"? I can only find reasons and sources to suggest that it is a single from Revelación... for now, though, please stop edit warring, and let's discuss before removing it again. - Peterpie123rww (talk) 16:25, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

Template:Infobox album tells only include singles that were used to promote the album. For example, Señorita appears in the deluxe edition of Shawn Mendes' self-titled album and in Camila Cabello's Romance, but is not counted as a single from either album. Correct, but the single was released just over a week before the EP and is referred to in many places as the third single from Revelación, such as here, here and also here (this one is from a website owned by Universal Music Group). To me this is a no-brainer and it most certainly should be included. Recent/common editors on the page feel free to comment; Anonpediann, BawinV, Doggy54321... @Neel.arunabh: While that is true, it is only because the promotional cycle for Mendes' album was coming to a close, and the promotional cycle for Cabello's album hadn't started yet. @Peterpie123rww: Definitely a single. It got a lyric video (like every other song on the EP), it was referred to as a single from the EP by multiple sources, and it was released within a reasonable timeframe to be included. I agree it wasn't initially planed to be on the project and was a last minute addition, but it was released on the EP promotional cycle and has been used to promote it (Gomez even released a lyric video for the track following the project's rollout on her YT channel). Official sources consider it a single from Revelación and the song was even used by her label to promote the EP in International markets (it was added on Today Top Hits among other Spotify playlists, for example). The "Señorita" situation is not even comparable as it was released without any album on sight and just as a standalone single that happened to be a hit. Anonpediann (talk) 13:30, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

@Peterpie123rww: @Doggy54321: @Anonpediann: There is another reason why I think "Selfish Love" should not be counted as a single from this EP. Look at DJ Snake's social media profiles. There are a lot of posts about "Selfish Love" on DJ Snake's social media profiles. As compared to that, Selena's social media profiles have fewer posts about "Selfish Love". Moreover, if DJ Snake releases a project and "Selfish Love" is used to promote that project, then "Selfish Love" would be a single from that project. Neel.arunabh (talk) 16:46, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

@Neel.arunabh: That doesn’t make sense. The amount of social media posts does not matter as it is a collaborative project (DJ Snake with Selena Gomez, not DJ Snake featuring Selena Gomez). As well, that’s a completely irrelevant fact, as social media is used by the artist, while the song is promoted by the label as well as the artist. Even if DJ Snake releases a project that includes "Selfish Love", it can still be included as a single from Revelación. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Orphaned references in Revelación

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Revelación's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
