Working past 80[edit]

How rare is it for an ordinary or Curial official to continue in office past his 80th birthday? I know of one other contemporary case, Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti. Reports all expect his retirement as his term as president of the Italian conference ends later this month. Recent reports about Blázquez have noted he was presiding at Holy Week services for the last time and is sure to be replaced soon. But I haven't found any commentary on how extraordinarily rare this is (or at least I think it is). Thanks. 62.23.69.218 (talk) 05:28, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
