I don't see any mention of the Razzle Dazzle Rice Krispies cereal that were sold for a while. I think they were basically a berry one (similar to Fruity Pebbles), but I can't really remember. Anybody know? Thunderforge 02:57, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image caption[edit]

Whilst reverting the removal of the Rice Krispies box image, I changed the slogan back to what the original inserter had written (original insertion). It was changed in this edit, but no reason was given. As the box doesn't look at all 1970s in design (without knowing better, I'd have said it was 10 years old at most), I've reinstated the original slogan. Fourohfour 10:24, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reinstated again. An "early" Rice Krispies box suggests even earlier than the 1970s. Original caption claims otherwise, and it doesn't look that old. Fourohfour 14:25, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Whoever submitted the image stated that it was from the 1990's should make a better clarification. I've been around the 1990's, and I don't remember the Rice Krispies box ever looking like that. Whoever stated that this box was from the 90's should state what country that design was from, because it never looked that way in America]; Snap, Crackle and Pop look way too odd-looking to consider it to be the way they looked in the 90's. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.234.207.80 (talkcontribs) .
The design is definitely quite modern; the appearance of the gradients and their use in that manner looks quite recent; the lettering isn't flat, like it would have been in the 1980s or before. It might not be a U.S. box, but it's definitely not older than the 1990s. Fourohfour 14:09, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Protection for this page?[edit]

It seems to me that there has been quite a bit of vandalism on this page as of late. Maybe it's best to protect this page for a little while? Or semi-protect it at the least? Thunderforge 05:17, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article has conflicting information.[edit]

This article: (http://home.howstuffworks.com/question393.htm), states that "In the case of a Rice Krispy, you pop the rice similar to the way you pop popcorn"

Not baked as described on the front page. It's even linked to this reference in the "External links" section.

i work at kelloggs in London Ont. and make ricekrispies and special k. I can assure you it is not made with corn mixture but rather using the rice grain boil with flavour, dried, tempered and toasted —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 206.106.128.5 (talkcontribs).

Tom Jones Restaurant: removed[edit]

I removed the "Tom Jones Restaurant" section:

In 2005, Kellogg's held a contest to see which restaurant served the best Rice Krispies in the nation. With 67% of the judges' votes, Tom Jones Restaurant in Brookhaven, Pennsylvania received top honors. Costumed iterations of Snap, Crackle, and Pop presented the diner with a golden box of Rice Krispies in recognition of this accomplishment.{{cite needed}}

No citation had been provided, and I could not find any sources which were not derived from this article. This is ropey for something you'd expect to have been reported. Unless a clearly independent source can be given, this has no place in the article. Fourohfour 11:48, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

The section about snap, crackle, and pop in other languages contains "* Romanian: "Kim! Kan! Kum!" I'm not quite sure if this is serious or a joke. Can we get a confirmation from a Romanian speaker?

Cereal Slogans[edit]

I distinctly remember "Wake up call to the world" being a Rice Krispies slogan used in the late 1990's. Someone keeps deleting it whenever I add it back in. Could whoever's responsible for this please stop doing that? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Luckybolt (talkcontribs).

Hi there,
When did you add the slogan? There seems to be quite a lot of people adding slogans that might or might not be bogus. Although I don't recall removing any personally, it may have been tagged as "citation needed" and later removed.
In light of the problems, a reference would be useful if you wish to add it again (and watch out for circular references from sites which mirror Wikipedia!) Thanks. Fourohfour 17:02, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Puffed Rice[edit]

"This is in contrast to puffed rice, which was introduced in 1904."

Introduced where by whome? This gives a feeling that puffed rice was invented in 1904 while it has been a everyday food item in India for 100s of years. --Kaveri 14:11, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Rice Krispies.png[edit]

Image:Rice Krispies.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Vandalism[edit]

This edit added a supposed Swahili translation of the sound. It means, literally, "I ate! I've been angry / annoyed! I'm ill!". I'll arrange it. --79.151.217.214 (talk) 20:28, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copies[edit]

Pretty much every major store now a days sells their own version of Rice Crispies. Kellogs has the slogan along the lines of "If it isn't Kellogs on the box, then it isn't kellogs in the box"

Should there be some information about these non Kellogg rice crispies? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.237.64.150 (talk) 10:25, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rice Krispy Squares Cereal[edit]

I was just watching a home-made VHS tape of shows that aired October 1994 and saw a commercial for Rice Krispy Squares Cereal. The channel this aired on was from Canada and I have no idea if it was sold elsewhere or for long it was sold here in Canada. I was wondering if anyone else has knowledge of this variety and if someone could add it to the page as a variety.75.156.33.79 (talk) 01:45, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gluten Free Varieties[edit]

Whats the right way to discuss the fact that Rice Krispies are not gluten free, talk about the malt flavoring, and that they offer a gluten free variety - and how its ingredients and availability differ. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LogicX (talkcontribs) 14:01, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Prizes and Premiums[edit]

Surely Rice Krispies has offered other prizes and premiums since 1938. In 1974 they offered a "bicycle canteen" featuring the Snap Crackle Pop characters in exchange for three boxtops. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.225.17.141 (talk) 15:15, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
