"Controversy"[edit]

The information in this section seems just trivia, not 'controversy' ("disagreement, typically when long, public, and heated"). It seems many editors like uncovering a sense of controversy or creating one where none exists. This unfortunate character is becoming endemic in Wikipedia. "Bagger" ?[edit]

Sorry, but the job description of "bagger", in the sense of a supermarket bagger, did not exist in Thornaby in 1947. The one source, Griffiths' bio at FilmReference, has to be suspect here. Maybe a mistype of "baker"? Maybe a prank? There was a flour mill in Thornaby: maybe she bagged flour there. thought so, too. But the mother was deaf, could that be beggar? Were there beggers in the streets in those times? On another front, I once read he was raised/babysitted by a French woman who lived in the back of the house. Therefore his first language was French. That's how I remember it. RSC Roles[edit]

Richard Griffiths did not play Falstaff for the Royal Shakespeare Company (though he probably would have done if he had stayed with them longer). He played Falstaff in "The Merry Wives of Windsor" for the BBC Shakespeare, and in both parts of "Henry IV" for the Arkangel Complete Shakespeare audio recording. I do not at present have the time or resources to confirm this, partly because the RSC's online archive of productions disappeared some time ago (unless anyone can direct me to a new location for it).

It then occurred to me that Theatricalia website has most of the RSC's info, and from it I took parts that he did play and which fitted the context. 'Manager' at the top of his career details looks to me to be a confusion of the fact that he probably had jobs as an Assistant Stage Manager, so-called, i.e. a theatre worker who does all sorts of things, possibly including acting.

Picture is not face-on[edit]

This picture of Richard Griffiths does not show most of his face properly. I couldn't even recognise him. It only makes sense to have a clear image of someone's face for their article. Help needed to repair critical damage due to vandalistic deletions[edit]

Anonymous user:14.139.160.231 has committed vandalism and deleted a complete subsection about his early years. I seem to be unable to repair the damage because a certain link seems to be "blacklisted" and I can't ascertain which.... The article must be repaired somehow but I'm clueless about how to do it...
