Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because I was in the middle of creating the page when the tag was added. This person was a key figure at the nevada test site during the cold war.

I've subsequently added tons of details, references to NY Times author Annie Jacobsen, links to National geographic shows, NPR articles, etc.

Mingus was a key player in the black programs that happened at the nevada test site during the cold war. thanks.

This article should not be deleted, it is a relevant addition to an important topic in US history. It is also well sourced/referenced. Deletion tag should be removed.Meatsgains (talk) 03:04, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notable[edit]

There are multiple sources referenced in this article. NPR news story, Annie Jacobsen book, and the National Geographic show "Area 51 Declassified." What more could you ask for? Added four more sources to develop notability even further.

It is questionable that most of the citations are from Annie Jacobsen's book Area 51: An Uncensored History of America's Top Secret Military Base as some of the items in there are dubious as mentioned in that article's talk page and elsewhere. It would be a good idea to have independent citations. References 1 and 13 (Stalin's involvement in the Roswell incident) have widely been dismissed as speculative fiction and have no connection with Richard Mingus's life. Cosmos 954[edit]

The article states that Mingus was involved in a coverup of Cosmos 954, but that was a big story at the time. What coverup? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:50, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Response: The Cosmos 954 section has been improved to clarify events as described by the associated reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimerb (talkcontribs) 22:47, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
