Founder[edit]

Meant to save something like this earlier today, but lost the edit:
A colleague valuably cnv'd the Rdr to a Dab (lk'g to four well-chosen articles); i gave it the {{tl:Disambig-cleanup}} (as is commonly needed with at least Dab'ers early attempts) including removing the fact that Casa Ricordi's founder was Giovanni Ricordi. The colleague added at the end of the Casa Ricordi entry

, founded by Giovanni

summarizing

why remove relevant info?

I removed it, also at this new position, summarizing

bcz info belongs in articles, while Dabs are for speedy navigation which is impeded by any info that doesn't directly facilitate it. See Dab & MoSDab

They rv'd, summarizing

rvt - clearly, this does facilitate it

I ruled out summarizing

Doesn't either!

or

Clear to whom?

and i'm rusty at proving a negative, so i scratched my head a while enumerating circumstances (I trust i have made the charitable choice in not recording those cases here.) in which mentally fit users could conceivably seek an article at Ricordi, and i still can imagine no one who was trying to get to, or otherwise belonged at, the publishing house article, who would be affected by the additional words, except by being slowed down slightly in getting there.
I'm pleased to report, tho, that the exercise had the side effect of tuning my mind to where this case of Ricordi-Dab use finally came to mind, as the only way i can think of that info abt who the founder of Casa Ricordi was could aid dab'n:

seeking encyclopedic info on founder of the Ricordi publishing house
knows or suspects that "Ricordi" is likely to be a surname
has no idea of the founding date
never heard or can't remember the given names of any Ricordis, or can't relevantly distinguish them

Such a user may come to the Dab and choose to go straight to Casa Ricordi, since its name and the rest of the entry support the idea that that's the publishing house, and surely that article will, somewhere, mention the founder, and hopefully lk to their bio.
But hopefully, knowing they're looking for people, they will focus on the people entries; the mention, in the founder's entry, of that role will make it clear which is the desired bio.
I continue believe that information is unnecessary, since the smart guess, that the founder is the one in the earlier generation of the two Ricordi people ID'd as both musician and publisher, is a correct one; still, there's some logic to the other path, and i've moved the identification of the publisher from its useless and slightly harmful position in the publishing house's entry, to the logical one in the founder's entry.
I welcome further discussion here, but expect to summarize "rvv" following any further "Does so!"-style summaries.
