Death drug
Wiki Samantha Mathis article states Heroin overdose. Opiate overdose death is usually respiratory failure (opiates inhibit respiration) and "traces" don't kill unless allergy is present to it. Media at the time of his death said GHB "overdose" killed him. GHB is used to induce convulsions in psychiatric shock treatment, having replaced electroshock. GHB was not tested for in drug tox screens at the time and would have required a knowledgeable coroner to know how to look for it. GHB has been used for seduction as it can be added unknowingly to someones drink. See Wiki article on GHB for more info. (Traces because inactive metabolites of Cocaine and Heroin linger in the body. Location where ashes were scattered
I removed the statements that River's ashes were scattered in Costa Rica. A (admittedly short) search did not find any source for that. I did find an article in The Independent Florida Alligator stating that his ashes were scattered on Phoenix family property in Micanopy, Florida.[1] That article cites In Search of River Phoenix: The Truth Behind the Myth, by Barry C. Lawrence, for the location. I have held off on adding the Micanopy location, pending someone verifying the information from Lawrence's book, or finding a reliable source for the location in Costa Rica. - Donald Albury 03:20, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

@Tommi1986: Reading through those edits, now reverted, I noticed how you changed your edit summary from BLP vio to COI vio, which seems reasonable. Although it wasn't particularly well written and did finish with a 5-word sentence in Wikipedia's voice that was almost certainly a BLP vio, most of it seemed fairly well referenced. It was essentially quoting from books and interviews, and although shocking it did appear to be a reasonable addition.
COI issues aside, do you think any of that material would be worth adding back into the article? nagualdesign 02:21, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
..Scratch that. After trying to copyedit the text I checked out the references and they're far from reliable. No reference to the 2013 book by Gavin Edwards, Last Night at the Viper Room: River Phoenix and the Hollywood He Left Behind, was provided, and since I don't have a copy and don't fancy a wild goose chase searching for secondary sources I think I'll just drop it. nagualdesign 05:11, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
