Rives was the 2004 National Poetry Slam Champion, which, along with all of his other notable work as a slam poet, puts him in the top echelon of his field. Therefore, I think this page should stay up.

I agree on the notability mentioned above, especially since he has now appeared as a show host on national television (for 'ironic iconic America' as well). Frostlion (talk) 07:54, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rives is one of the most original spoken word artists in the English speaking world. His work bringing together poetry, performance art and public speaking is pioneering - as recognised by TED (ref: www.ted.com - http://www.ted.com/index.php/speakers/rives.html) and will no doubt spawn a new category of contemporary poetry.
