Reviewer: Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs) 16:01, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.

If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)

I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I will use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.

Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)

Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

Immediate Failures[edit]

  • It is a long way from meeting any one of the six good article criteria -
  • It contains copyright infringements -
  • It has, or needs, cleanup banners that are unquestionably still valid. These include{{cleanup}}, {{POV}}, {{unreferenced}} or large numbers of {{citation needed}}, {{clarify}}, or similar tags. (See also {{QF-tags}}). -
  • It is not stable due to edit warring on the page. -

Links[edit]

  • Could we maybe archive some sources? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:29, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sometimes you link the publisher, sometimes not. Could we keep it consistent? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:29, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • I try and link them during their first mention
  • There's a couple duplinks, such as "New Jersey Devils", "2017 Stanley Cup playoffs" and "San Jose Sharks". Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:29, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]

Prose[edit]

Lede[edit]

  • Could we merge the one sentence para? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:16, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • Bortuzzo led the Fort William North Stars - was he the captian/manager then? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:16, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • ice hockey defenceman - reword to avoid WP:SEAOFBLUE. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:16, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • The words "drafted" and "traded" should be suitably linked, they have significantly different meaning outside of American sports. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:16, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "a legitimate prospect," - what does this mean, and who said it? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:16, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • no links for St. Louis Blues and 2018–19 season? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:16, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • Bortuzzo won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Blues, becoming the first SIJHL alumni to do so - him winning the Stanley Cup seems like a signficantly more important thing than having been the only player to have also won the junior championship. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:16, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • To be a bit more thorough, maybe we could add something to the lede about winning the Hamilton Trophy, and playing on the All-star team? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:16, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

General[edit]

  • Bortuzzo was born on March 18, 1989, in Thunder Bay, Ontario[1] to parents Oscar and Susan. - move ref to end of sentence (unless it doesn't cover the parents, in which case we need a new source. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:19, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • His father was a major junior goaltender who was drafted by the Kitchener Rangers in 1977[2] and inducted into the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in 2003 - we should probably link, and explain that we are talking about ice hockey here, as his dad could be playing any sport. Links needed for the Hall of fame, goaltender and Kitchener Rangers. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:19, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • What is a major junior goaltender anyway? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:19, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • His grandfather Sergio Bortuzzo volunteered at the Da Vinci Centre - do we need to mention his last name? Also, where is this Center? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:19, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • Comment - I love bocce. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:19, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • link baseball and hockey (I am assuming we are talking about ice hockey, and not field hockey? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • Should also link "little league", as this has other connotations elsewhere. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC) Done[reply]
  • overtime goal away from playing in the 2006 Royal Bank Cup final - this should probably be reworded. A little promotional in my eyes. Should say that they were into overtime in the semi-finals (or equivalent). Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC) Done[reply]
  • "great experience and definitely a great learning curve for myself. - do we need "for myself"? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC) Done[reply]
  • "a legitimate prospect." [according to whom?] Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • Maybe link "puck"? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • Maybe we could link all of the season articles? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • penalty minutes - perhaps explain. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • Also "plus-13? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins - is that the full team name? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Third para of Pittsburgh could do with a split. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • $3,091.40 - do we need to be so specific? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Review meta comments[edit]

  • I'll begin the review as soon as I can! If you fancy returning the favour, I have outstanding GA and FA nominations that require reviewing at WP:GAN and WP:FAC, respectively. I'd be very grateful if you were to complete one of these, however it's definitely not mandatory. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)
