This article contains references to Bale's suggestion that Robert de Torigni authored two Arthurian Romances. Re: Historia Meriadoci and De Ortu Waluuanii; Two Arthurian Romances of the XIIIth Century in Latin Prose, ed. J. Douglas Bruce (Johns Hopkins Press, 1913), viz. pp. x-xv, sub: "II. Bale's acription of the romances to Robert de Torigni". Here Dr. James Bruce analyzed the writing style compared to that of Robert de Torigni, showing they do not match, and also shows how Bale made the mistake of attributing these romances to de Torigni based on an incorrect assumption. In addition, further analysis shows these romances to be written in the thirteenth century, not the twelfth (pp.xvi-xxiv). I think the references to Robert de Torigni as author of any Arthurian romances and subsequent categories need to be removed to improve the quality of this article. Corrections however should stay. We should point out in this article that Bale did attribute this, so that future readers will not think, for example, that we don't know *of* these works and that attribution. And then we should cite how they are not by Robert, as your above.Wjhonson (talk) 21:42, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's not a bad point. I'll see what I can come up with to at least acknowledge Bale's crediting Robert with these romances. Let me know if you have suggestions. If you don't mind your link Robert de Torigni's "Chronicles" (in Latin) seems to be a good fit in an External links section.
