Leonard-Duran II (No Mas)[edit]

Also, in an article published at the time, Duran said that, because Leonard was making him miss, he threw a right hand, and felt something go wrong in his shoulder. One could be reminded of the first Liston v Clay fight, where Sonny tore muscles in his arm from missing.

In addition, Leonard said in an interview that his corner took note of the fact that Duran was urinating blood after their first fight, so they wanted the rematch as soon as possible, hoping that he would not be completely healed by the time of the fight. Duran was also a glutinous eater between fights, and gained a lot of weight, which he then had to work off, and this was bound to slow him down, particularly if he was still healing from the first fight.

Box rec has him listed at 103 wins professionally, not 104. Anyone know why the discrepancy?

His early record as it was recorded during his Lightweight title days of the 1970s, was littered with errors. Often managers just guessed on dates and opponents when submitting the early records of their boxers to the Ring Record Book. BoxRec has a Panamanian editor who has gone about verifying Duran's early Panamanian record from Panamanian newspapers, which is why there is a difference with the results and the dates.--Matt1978 16:43, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Duran didn't say "No mas" at first when he quit. He said the spanish for "I'm not fighting this clown". Then when the ref asked if Duran is sure he then said, "No mas. No mas."

Duran is considered by many to not just be one of the greatest, but in fact THE greatest lightweight of all-times. He is also considered to be in the top 5 pound for pound all-time.

Duran Beat Leonard the first fight![edit]
