New Logo?[edit]

Since the Rogers Arena logo seen in the article itself is well.....outdated, i've been thinking of the current logo being edited onto there. WWE banned reference[edit]

A reference is sorely needed for the WWE banning. I don't doubt it's true but we need it backed up. The reference I reverted was an obvious copy of parts of an older version of this Wiki article from sometime around mid-August 2006. We need a reference from a media outlet or directly from canucks.com. None of my Google searches have turned up anything. Fourpointsix 18:34, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Who actually owns the stadium[edit]

Canada Hockey Place[edit]

Renaming to Rogers Arena[edit]

This CBC article states that "Officials did not reveal [...] when the renaming would officially take effect." As such, the move should be reverted until this is clear. To me, it seems perfectly reasonable that Rogers receives the naming rights at the beginning of the 2010-2011 NHL season (ie, in September) rather than immediately. -M.Nelson (talk) 22:35, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On the other hand, this Vancouver Sun article states that signage is being changed immediately, implying that the official change has taken place. I see no problem with leaving the article as it is (under Rogers Arena), as long as we cite that the name change was announced July 6, rather than effective July 6 (which is dubious per CBC). -M.Nelson (talk) 22:56, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say wait a day or so, and if it becomes evident from reliable sources that the name change is not to be official within at least a week, then move it back to the oither name. It might be a good idea to get the move feature locked for this page for the duration to prevent move warring. - BilCat (talk)
Keep it for now. In Philly, the Wachovia Center may or may not have been renamed the Wells Fargo Center a week ago. Arena nicknames[edit]

Anybody have a different source for the nicknames? As far as I can see, the only source is fan comments on the one article. Personally I've personally never heard Cable Box or Phone Booth used; the one I've heard the most has been "Roger's Arena" (for Roger Neilson). Not like it matters that much. I deleted the arena nicknames because it is absolutely uncharacteristic of what fans or residents of BC call the arena. The source itself is outdated and completely irrelevant. These were suggested nicknames in a news story that was written when the name change was announced. People did refer to GM place as the Garage and that reference is still in the article. I was referring to the "phone booth" and "cable box" nicknames that were at the very top of the article in the first sentence. Those are the nicknames that I deleted. Entertainment and sporting events sections[edit]

The noteworthiness of some of the events listed in the entertainment and sports sections is questionable. My suggestion is to narrow it down to about ten core events encompassed in one section without the major expansion of information.

I've reverted to an older version of the page, removing the massive expansion of entertainment acts on the article. If the user that wants to make these additions insists on having a list of every entertainment act that has ever played Rogers Arena, they can make a standalone page for that express purpose. It seems inappropriate as part of this article.

When I searched Rogers Arena I was trying to find the seating capacity of the stadium. Which obviously changes per venue, but it may be a good stat.
