Locations[edit]

FWIW I can remember from local press reports at the time that part of the outdoor scenes were filmed around King's Stag in Dorset,(between Sherborne and Sturminster Newton) mainly around the "Green Man" pub. 81.86.230.16 (talk) 23:46, 29 December 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Radio Times cover as more appropriate image[edit]

Previously the image on this page was a third party DVD cover, which I considered to be inappropriate. Having changed it for a far more appropriate image, this was reverted by Aspects, who claimed: "more appropriate DVD cover image per Template:Infobox film." I dispute the latter for the following reasons:

  • Rogue Male is a BBC television production, not a feature film that was released theatrically. The page should therefore carry the television infobox, not the film one.
  • As a television production, there is no release poster that can be used, and certainly at the time the BBC did not advertise programmes outside of their own listings magazine, the Radio Times, when BBC listings could not legally be included in any other UK publication.
  • The Radio Times for the week of 18-24 September 1976 featured the subject production as the sole programme featured on the cover, in a manner which represents the production and its star appropriately.
  • To date Rogue Male has not been officially released on any home format in the UK, either directly or licensed to any other distributor. There is, therefore, no official DVD cover that can be used.
  • The DVD cover previously used on this page was produced by a third party American distributor, and it is not clear if it is official, or merely - like others before and after it - an erroneously-claimed "public domain" release. The main image on this cover - if it is Peter O'Toole at all - is certainly not from the production in question, and thus does not properly illustrate it, and certainly not in any adequate way in comparison to the Radio Times cover.

I am therefore changing the infobox on the page to the more appropriate television one, using the Radio Times cover accordingly. Nick Cooper (talk) 13:09, 17 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
