Hendrix[edit]

I reverted my last version. My last version was correct, but I can't prove it as there's no reliable source available - see WP:CITE. --Suaheli (talk) 04:43, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've just rechecked this page. Quote: "... influenced Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)".[2]" – This reference is gone and I think this part with Hendrix should be deleted now. What influence? It might have been influenced "Highway Chile", but that would be just a theory as well. Lyrics: "And everybody knows, boss; A rolling stone gathers no moss." – Cheers --Suaheli (talk) 14:02, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The source was an article published by the Experience Music Project as part of their Jimi Hendrix exhibition that ran from June 2003–August 2007. There are ways of handling dead links, rather than deletion of content. The bare link citation is still recorded in the article history. dissolvetalk 20:21, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your quick reply. Did that article explain that "influence" or did it just mention the song titles? In the latter case, that article most likely confused "voodoo chile" with "highway chile". – Talking of "influence" in such an abstract way, one could also mention the song "Rolling Stone" written by Suzi Quatro :-) Cheers--Suaheli (talk) 12:24, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The influence is covered in the "Voodoo Chile" article: the song began under the title "Catfish Blues", which was made up of a collection of Muddy Waters verses including one from "Rollin' Stone". The song changed over time into "Voodoo Chile". An anon editor added the line to this article. I agree that "influenced" is vague and could be clarified. dissolvetalk 18:54, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

riff copied in another song?[edit]

There's a repeated guitar riff in here that sounds enough like another song I've heard that it's bugging me to remember the other song. A much later rock song. If it drifts into my consciousness I'll post back what it is. duh DUHHHH duh de duh. Next to last note shorter than all the others. Wish I was more of a musician and could tell you the notes. 71.163.117.143 (talk) 01:16, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
