Distinguising man from brand[edit]

This article is a biography and we need to distinguish between the man and the brand. I've been circumspect, for obvious reasons, although I understand this was all written about extensively at the time. I've listed his importance as mid as the purple prose from fashion writers at the LA Times, Vogue, etc, and references to him influencing other designers suggest that he is a key figure of the late 1980s–early 1990s. More source material would be very useful. Note that I have taken off the weblink to the current RG website as this does not seem appropriate on the biography, as detailed in the references I've found.
