DLM[edit]

I have the source, and the source does not describe Geaves to be of the "Divine Light Mission (now known as Elan Vital)". ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 21:56, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What does the source say? If he were among the earliest followers then it's hard to imagine he wasn't a part of the DLM. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 01:08, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The source does not say anything about the DLM, only that he was one of the first Westerners to visit the ashram where the young Maharaji lived. I am not eve sure if there was a DLM in the UK, and even if it were, I am not sure he was "part of the DLM". ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 01:17, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've edited the text to better reflect the source. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 01:50, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not good enough, Will. ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 01:57, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Try: Geaves, who was one of the earliest Western students of Prem Rawat, has written a number of papers related to Rawat and affiliated organizations. Let the reader follow the links to the main article so that they get a proper presentation of the subject. ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 02:01, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, we need to identify the names of the guru and the names of the organization because they appear in the titles of his work. Readers should know, when they review the list, that From Divine Light Mission to Elan Vital and Beyond and From Totapuri to Maharaji: Reflections on a Lineage, that he is writing about the movement to which he belongs. It's directly relevant. (I notice that elsewhere, and just a few mintues before, you complained that the text, "..a Christian-inspired Dutch association that organizes conferences and publishes articles and books related to faith, religion and mental health..." was insufficient background about the publisher of a book. I can't square that with your request for less information here). If you'd like a source showing that Prem Rawat used to be called Mahraj Ji, or used to lead the Divine Light Mission, I'd be happy to oblige. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 02:18, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I hear you. What about this as a compromise: Geaves, who was one of the earliest Western students of Maharaji (Prem Rawat), has written a number of papers related to Maharaji and related organizations, such as the Divine Light Mission, and Elan Vital., as per the paper you mention. ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 02:29, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
How's that better? Why link to a redirect? ·:· Will Beback ·:· 04:14, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As per your argument: Readers should know, when they review the list, that From Divine Light Mission to Elan Vital and Beyond and From Totapuri to Maharaji: Reflections on a Lineage. ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 04:49, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I added your text with a few tweaks.
  • Geaves was one of the earliest Western students of Maharaji (Prem Rawat, aka Guru Maharaj Ji).[2] Geaves has written a number of papers related to Maharaji and his organizations, such as the Divine Light Mission, and Elan Vital.
I split up the sentence as it was getting long. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 07:47, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good. ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 16:03, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
