Marriage equality referendum[edit]

User:Snappy has removed some information from the article concerning the vote tallies for the marriage equality referendum, with the edit summary "this article is for election results only". While the article is in fact on the constituency rather than elections within it, and I think the information is revelant as it is described in the sources as the only place to vote "No", I would like to seek further opinions before re-adding the information, either in the "Elections" section or in a separate "Referendum" section (as I agree it's not technically an "election"). At most, I'd allow a wikilink to the referendum in the "See also" section with a very brief note. No numbers. Laurel Lodged (talk) 11:05, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The article is about the constituency, and this constituency had a distinctive result in the referendum. My vote is to include the fact — as added by me — and the table. JDAWiseman (talk) 14:17, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
These articles contain election results, adding every referendum result (we have have alot of them in Ireland) would considerably expand the scope. If its the no vote you want to highlight, then we don't have the no votes for the Donegal constituencies in recent referendums. I agree with Laurel Lodged's suggestion. You are generalising beyond my intent. This constituency had a distinctive result in this referendum, which is therefore worthy of mention. JDAWiseman (talk) 15:25, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There is a main article for the referendum in which "this" can be mentioned in detail. I haven't seen any other countries with referendum results in their constituency election articles. You have not made a compelling case for its inclusion here, other than your own opinion. If it is worthy of mention, then go with Laurel Lodgeds suggestion. There are at least two opinions in this discussion. Perhaps others could express a preference between them. JDAWiseman (talk) 21:08, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Somebody else has just edited the page — I know not who — adding much as I did. There is, at a minimum, disagreement. Please could somebody expert in these matters invoke dispute resolution. (Though, critical aside, the most recent editor has not sourced.) JDAWiseman (talk) 22:47, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a source and moved the referendum to its own section, and left it at one line without a table. So instead of dispute resolution, is this an acceptable compromise? Snappy (talk) 18:51, 4 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Works for me (though “..” replaced with single “.”). JDAWiseman (talk) 21:34, 4 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also changed “the only constituency to narrowly vote against”, as it suggested that others might have overwhelmingly voted against. JDAWiseman (talk) 21:36, 4 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Glad we all agree. Snappy (talk) 17:13, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Athlone–Longford (Dáil Éireann constituency) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 14:48, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
