Rose ave.Rose Ave.MOS:TM --Relisted. Dekimasuよ! 21:34, 22 October 2014 (UTC)Chase (talk / contribs) 16:21, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

  • Move to Rose Ave. (album), the abbreviation could apply to any Rose Avenue mentioned in Wikipedia articles. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:07, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Re rose ave. (album) is an improvement, but there are no reliable sources for this album yet - small font is just a stylism. In ictu oculi (talk) 05:28, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Keep at "rose ave." or move to "rose ave. (album)"- The album title is ALL lower case, but per the Principle of least astonishment, perhaps it could be moved to the lower case title with disambiguator. --Jax 0677 (talk) 02:10, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
  • MOSTM recommends against using non-standard capitalization, and switching to standard caps is fine as long as the style is present in sources (which it seems to be according to refs). –Chase (talk / contribs) 20:18, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Keep at "rose ave." or move to "rose ave. (album) per Jax 0677.--Yaksar (let's chat) 04:00, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Actually, since we don't seem to have any notable Rose Avenues yet, I would also be fine with keeping the current title.--Yaksar (let's chat) 16:28, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Keep at "rose ave." or move to "rose ave. (album)"- lowercase to distinguish it from the common implication of Avenue. I am Ok with "Rose Ave. (album)" too, but prefer lowercase. Some reliable sources use lowercase: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Bammesk (talk) 02:10, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
  • The lower case does not seem to be pure stylization, as this is how it is listed in official sales contexts such as iTunes and is therefore likely the way the album is registered in licensing databases.--Yaksar (let's chat) 04:37, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Artpop (ARTPOP), Prism (PRISM), Bringing Back the Sunshine (BRINGING BACK THE SUNSHINE), and others are also listed on iTunes with irregularly-capitalized titles that we have modified per our MoS. This should be no exception. The examples I have provided are all upper-caps, but there are also low-caps examples such as the TV series Thirtysomething (thirtysomething). –Chase (talk / contribs) 17:21, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Support per MoS Snuggums (talk / edits) 23:32, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
  • comment I would support rose ave but without considering the stylisation to be sufficient to provide disambiguation from a "Rose Ave" or "Rose Avenue". Gregkaye 00:56, 23 October 2014 (UTC)
  • I don't think there is any other Rose ave or avenue we'd have to disambiguate this from. After this discussion was started an editor created a Rose Avenue disambiguation page, but all the titles are either already clearly disambiguated or are just minor non notable elements of other topics.--Yaksar (let's chat) 01:06, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Requested move 31 March 2016

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: page no consensus, defaulting to rose ave. as the status quo title. This has been a confusing RM. Rose ave. is the original name, and also the outcome of the only previous formal RM, but some months ago the article was moved without discussion. Apparently this RM was a technical request to restore rose ave., which was contested.
Reviewing the current RM are two oppose !votes compared to the nominator's support. The opposes make a compelling point regarding the MOS (presumably MOS:TM). However, another point, that the present title is the normal styling of the title - is not in evidence in this discussion. Other comments - a question on using the full stop and an oppose to using the capitalized form Rose Ave., are noted, but don't have much bearing on the proposed move. On the other hand, the nominator's principal argument, that the title should be restored to the status quo as of the last formal discussion, which had much stronger participation than this one, is compelling. Given the lack of consensus in the current discussion one way or the other, and the fact that the form Rose Ave. (album) was not discussed previously, the article will default to its status quo title of Rose ave..
No prejudice against opening another RM in the future, but the article should not be moved again without one. Cúchullain t/c 17:54, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

Rose Ave. (album)Rose ave. – Per Talk:Rose Ave. (album)#Requested move, there was no consensus to move to neither Rose Ave. or rose ave. (album) (or alike). – © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 08:34, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

@Tbhotch: This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 18:30, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
  • Is the final fullstop valid in an article name? Distinguishing from Rose Avenue (a common street name, a disambig page)? See discussion hereinabove. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 18:30, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
  • Oppose – The current title seems like the most normal styling of the album title, and the rationale does not explain why a different title would be preferred. Dicklyon (talk) 05:44, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Oppose keep normal appearance per en.wikipedia MOS. Keep (album) per WP:CRITERIA In ictu oculi (talk) 08:02, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Comment it should not move to "Rose Ave." per WP:ASTONISH as that is the name of streets, like Rose Avenue -- 70.51.46.39 (talk) 10:46, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Comment. The only one I'm going to say. I'm kind of concerned that despite I am contesting this move, when there was already a no consensus to move in the first place. Now suddenly I became a requestor of a move when there was no consensus to move in the first place? Why do we need to increase this backlog that a few people is caring on? All I have to say is that if a previous consensual discussions exists, moves should not be performed. And for this album, if one person per day is enough to lead all readers to Rose Avenue, what kind of joke is going on. © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 01:09, 2 April 2016 (UTC)
At least that move cited a relevant style guideline. You have not provided a plausible rationale for your move proposal. A lot of sources call it "rose ave." and the album cover styles it "roseave.", so why would one even consider "Rose ave."? Dicklyon (talk) 04:41, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
"there was no consensus to move". Under your logic I can move Kiev or Detective Conan solely by citing a guideline. Considering your recent comments at RMs, like those at talk:Garbage collection, don't waste your time answering, I don't need to read more nonsense. © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 15:43, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

That's a pretty bizarre result, considering that that the Oppose votes were to keep it from moving, and there were no Support votes, and yet it moved. Dicklyon (talk) 04:03, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

There was no consensus, so it returned to the stable title. The previous move to Rose Ave. (album) wasn't discussed, and in fact it was against the outcome of the previous discussion. Future RMs, if they happen, should be about moving from the status quo to something else. I expect it will be less confusing in the future.--Cúchullain t/c 13:05, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

Rose ave.Rose Ave. – Lower case is pure stylization per MOS:TM. It applies in a lot of album articles in Wikipedia such as Thank U, Next (thank u, next[1]), Reputation (reputation[2]) and many others. Bluesatellite (talk) 03:53, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
