Interesting that this page doesn't mention the two biggest problems of this engine: the sticky valves, and the head gasket oilway leak. I had three Rover 800s, and all exhibited the oil leak, and the last was plagued by sticky valves. The valve problem was the subject of a rover TSB, IIRC.
On the plus side, that's all that went wrong with the engines themselves. Two cars has gearbox problems, though.
