  • This is more of a comment than a review for now, but I have some reservations among all the hooks proposed so far. In particular, I'm not really sure if any of them would be interesting to anyone who's not an American football fan, which would be most of the world. Hooks don't necessarily have to appeal to the entire world of course, but unless you're familiar with the sport, the hooks don't really make much sense. Perhaps another direction can be taken here? late, just found it per search: I know nothing about the tpic but find the hooks interesting, especially "smash mouth running design", - a term that when you don't know you want to know about. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:47, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • According to The Independent, there are over 195 million American football fans worldwide. While the majority (115 million) are in the United States, I imagine that this is significantly larger interest than we would get for, say, German opera. That German opera hooks that talk about the location of premier is considered to be sufficiently broadly interesting makes me think the objection oddly here in light of how that principle operates at DYK; surely there are more fans of American football than of German opera. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 02:55, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Red-tailed hawk: My main concern here is that all of the hooks are quite technical. You need to have a decent knowledge of the sport to understand them. It's not like they're basic American football hooks that even someone with little-to-knowledge of the sport can appreciate. As for the opera hooks, it should be noted that there's actually resistance to many of those hooks on interest grounds, and indeed statistics have consistently shown they tend to be among the worst performing hooks on DYK. Also asking for some input from Theleekycauldron regarding the hooks and whether or not something should be done about them. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 04:08, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, I mostly got what ALT0 was driving at after a couple of read-throughs – maybe it just needs to flow better. How about (at risk of oversimplifying): theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/her) 05:08, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
