Ah, Wikipedia double standards... TMZ is considered a "reliable source" but IMDB is not? Well, I suppose this *IS* the "Jackass" guy, so standards go out the window. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.3.65.68 (talk) 15:53, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Pink Panther Goes to Prison

I don't understand the release "Pink Panther Goes to Prison" as an item in the music section for his works, I mean I'm assuming this thing is either vandalism or a mistake since even Googling it shows nothing. • GunMetal Angel 17:54, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Spelling/grammar error

The article says: "Dunn was found died" which of course should read: "Dunn was found dead". I'd edit it myself but the page is locked for me. Edit: someone fixed it already, thanks 80.56.214.121 (talk) 16:16, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

This was already fixed before you even posted the message, dude. lol • GunMetal Angel 16:20, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

I didn't mean that rudely or not relaxed-like I just find it incredible that anyone even saw it when it wasn't even on the article for a full minute but then again, I'm sure the whole world is looking at this page right now after what happened to him today. • GunMetal Angel 18:07, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Quick thing:

Ryan is in hospital now with injuries. He was a passenger and involved in a slow-speed collision in a Ferrari. The article needs updating. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.171.242.174 (talk) 14:48, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Bam Margera's mom confirmed Ryan Dunn's death, TMZ says. Also it's all over the internet. I believe it's pretty final... Alcohol may have something to do with it, he tweeted a picture of him drinking with his friends mere hours before his death. My gut instinct (which is not a reliable source but usually has it right) tells me he was pretty hammered. Nevertheless, RIP Ryan Dunn. Nietvoordekat (talk) 14:59, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
The tweeted photo has been since deleted, within the past few minutes... Interesting. HalogenHeavy (talk) 18:08, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Article tone

The article reads like a collection of times he was filmed driving, and examples of him driving badly. I don't think things should be removed, but more information should be added and the tone should not entirely concentrate on the current event. 174.109.177.101 (talk) 02:54, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

I've removed this entire sentence since the website used as a citation is down. If the report appears elsewhere in reliable sources, we can mention it, but I don't think it's relevant until that belief spreads. Ocaasi t | c 18:42, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the information Ocaasi.

If someone dies in a fiery car crash, you won;t be able to identify them by their tattoos and facial hair. This needs to be removed. Plus, look at the site the cited. Really? Because they look reputable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.112.82.2 (talk) 21:41, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

"If someone dies in a fiery car crash, you won;t be able to identify them by their tattoos and facial hair." - That would depend on the severity of the fire and whether the fire or the crash killed them. If the fire killed them, it's safe to assume it was severe enough for you to be right, but if the crash killed them and they just happened to be burned in places by fire before it was put out then it is possible. If the fact is cited, find citations that are more credible and prove otherwise.

Also, I posted this last night and it disappeared since then...no idea what happened, and I can't see evidence of malicious editing. 87.194.86.204 (talk) 11:50, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

I have updated the article, but there is no good reason to name the passenger until we know who he ACTUALLY is, and his relationship to Dunn. I have also cut down significantly on the details since this is not a news report. GDallimore (Talk) 12:52, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Edit request - speed

The article says "Police said that Dunn was probably driving at over 100 mph (...)"

However, the cited article (footnote 12) has no actual speeds noted, only that "Speed may have been a contributing factor" and that "...Dunn was probably speeding at the time."

(I've seen other articles speculating that he was exceeding 110 or 100, but with no sources listed). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.130.56.221 (talk) 13:04, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Agreed. I've just been doing the same checks myself and came to a similar conclusion. I'll remove it until a good source can be provided. GDallimore (Talk) 13:07, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Not dead?

News is coming in more and more from various sources that Ryan Dunn's death was a staged promotional stunt to draw attention for the upcoming Jackass 4, including supposed interviews with Ryan Dunn himself in which he reflects on the media frenzy that followed his alleged death. Can we at least make a mention of the suspicions that his death may have been a hoax? 82.95.25.120 (talk) 08:27, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Only if you tell us which sources. GDallimore (Talk) 09:38, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
I just looked into this and there is some sites saying it was for jackass 4, but none of the sites are reliable sources. Most of them are blogs, most news sites are still saying he is dead.Lorne852 (talk) 19:53, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I've seen a couple. I don't think there's any question that we should give these reports credence at this time. What does arise is whether the reports have gained sufficient attention in reliable sources to warrant mention in the article as an event associated with his death. I don't believe they do warrant inclusion unless a national or local newspaper comments on them. And by "comments", I don't mean merely mentions them, but provides some editorial insight into them. Meshuggah

"Dunn is also said to have had a production role in the band Meshuggah's EP "I", where it is said that without him, the album would not have been made."

"It is said"? By who? When? Where? I can't find any information about this anywhere else, and there are no references. Should this really be in the article?

This is not referenced and should not be believed by anyone except the idiot who put it online — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.19.88.34 (talk) 07:12, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Actually the page read that he was going approximately 130 mph a few minutes ago, but I went ahead and updated that figure to the police statement which stated that Dunn's vehicle hit speeds between 132-140 mph. U21980 (talk) 04:12, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

TMZ as source and findagrave

Should tmz even be used as a RS? Also, findagrave doesn't add anything at this point. Maybe revisit later. Thoughts? TIA --Threeafterthree (talk) 22:30, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

TMZ is reliable for celebrity news. They also broke the story. I think it's actually the most appropriate source in this instance. Findagrave i'm not sure about, although I don't have a personal issue with it. What's EL consensus on it? I know I've seen it elsewhere... Ocaasi t | c 22:41, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

I would say that, for this kind of thing, TMZ is a reliable source. In my opinion, they've proven themselves to be a reliable source of news relating to celebrity over the past few years. --Connelly90[AlbaGuBràth] (talk) 13:44, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Include rumours about death being faked?

Should we include rumours about Ryan Dunn's death being faked. I know that they are just rumours and they have not been proven true but should we at least mention that there are rumours about his death?

MrAmberGold (talk) 16:35, 22 June 2011 (UTC)MrAmberGoldMrAmberGold (talk) 16:35, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Not unless we can source them and they receive significant attention in reliable sources. We don't just mention that there's speculation unless it comes from a reliable source and is more than just gossip. Ocaasi t | c 17:13, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Some sources: [3], [4], [5], feel free to discuss their reliability. Seems the suggestion is that this was a publicity stunt, either for the next Jackass film of the Living Will film where he plays a character who returns from the dead. I can't quite see how you'd fake the police identification but that doesn't stop people coming up with conspiracy theories I suppose. (Emperor (talk) 22:23, 22 June 2011 (UTC))
A blog on MSN and 2 sites I haven't heard of before now. They all say that the rumor is false. I'd accept the rumor's existence as verified but question whether a false rumor that lasted only part of a day is relevant enough to include. Thundermaker (talk) 22:42, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Leave it out. Let's try not to make wikipedia look stupid. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:52, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Every news outlet I have seen has reported on the death of Ryan Dunn as if it were fact; Wikipedia is not here to report, but we should keep the "rumours" out of it as they surround every high profile death these days; unless of course, a reliable source is found that causes serious suspicion on whether or not he actually died in the crash. --Connelly90[AlbaGuBràth] (talk) 13:48, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Roger Ebert

...took some heat after he made harsh comments about Dunn's fatal accident. I wonder if that's worth mentioning, or if it's more about Ebert than it is about Dunn. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:54, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

There could be some aftermath angle to it. Say if Ebert's comments and the accident itself lead to some anti-DD crackdown or campaign. But I don't see it's worth mentioning in the grand scheme of things as it stands for either Dunn or Ebert. GDallimore (Talk) 23:17, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Here's the story.[6] Probably a stir in a teacup. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 23:36, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
I tend to agree with GDallimore here, unless something comes out of these comments other than criticism for Ebert, it would probably be irrelevant in the grand scheme of things for the Dunn page, though it could be worth mentioning on Ebert's page. U21980 (talk) 04:14, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
I'll throw in my opinion, mainly to add to the people who are against adding Eberts comments to this article. If at all, these comments would be more suited to the Roger Ebert or Bam Margera articles unless something more is made out of them surrounding the death of Ryan Dunn (e.g. as part of an anti-drink-driving campaign). --Connelly90[AlbaGuBràth] (talk) 13:53, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

There is speculation about his death, even if he really died isn't it worth putting in that thee was speculation? MichaelSchlafy (talk) 21:00, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Only if the speculation is reliable sourced, relevant, and notable. So far, no serious sources have been provided which address the possibility or coverage of a hoax. To include it would give readers the wrong message that a hoax occurred or that it was a significant part of the story surrounding his death. We'll wait to see if anything further comes up, otherwise, we just report what can be confirmed, and even speculation hasn't been confirmed by good sources. Ocaasi t | c 23:47, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Fake?

I'm not too familiar with Wikipedia, however I thought it generally contained accurate data. When I originally heard (on June 20) that Dunn had died, I immediately googled his name, and saw that Wikipedia had already had something posted. I read through it all and at the end it had a section stating that in fact, he did fake his own death and that his mother was in on it. I'm just wondering why it was removed, and that if it wasn't true (which I'm assuming it wasn't considering it is no longer there, on the page), WHY was it ever posted at all? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pillsburybogirl (talkcontribs) 04:56, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

It was posted because any moron can edit wikipedia; and it was removed for the same reason. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 06:22, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
It was posted because wikipedia is a free encyclopedia that anybody can edit; so, somebody has obviously edited the article to include this stuff, which has since been disproven and the edits have been removed from the article. The article is "semi-protected" now so hopefully we wont see much more vandalism. --Connelly90[AlbaGuBràth] (talk) 08:55, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
Maybe mankind is going to die of stupidity. Seriously... moon landing, 9/11 and now Ryan Dunn's death. When you look at the pictures and videos of the crash site, there are only two conclusions: either there was a car in front of him which made an emergency brake and he tried to avoid a collision ot he tried to get the exit and he underestimated the situation.188.97.157.188 (talk) 22:13, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

1995 accident

The 1995 accident needs added to "early life." Something like:

In 1995, Dunn was driving Bam Margera, Jess Margera and Chris Raab to King of Prussia, and he was speeding over 100 mph on Route 202 when another driver cut him off and the car flipped 8 and 1/2 times into oncoming traffic. The Margeras were treated at a hospital for minor injuries and Bam was not wearing his seatbelt until Raab reached over and put it on him as Dunn sped, saving his life. The accident happened less than a mile from where Dunn died sixteen years later.(Source from April Margera in the Daily Local News.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iaasasaiiiiii (talkcontribs) 06:26, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Shouldn't it be noted about the conspiracies concerning Dunn's possible 'staged' death?

I believe that there needs to be a section concerning the rumors that it was a stunt for the possible 'Jackass 4' movie. We know that he is in fact dead, however there should be a section describing the rumors that he staged it all and that Bam Margera's mom was in on it. It has been noted on many websites, MSN among them I believe, that claimed he was alive and that it was all in efforts to promote a new 'Jackass' movie. Any thoughts? I know people have somewhat posted about the rumors on this discussion page, but of the ones I read none of that had asked for noting the rumors of Dunn's death on the actual page. If I were to be just an average reader looking up Ryan Dunn, it may be in their interest to note that there was at one time rumors of his staged death. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Metallicanofawesome (talkcontribs) 09:17, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
