Recentism[edit]

@Midnightblueowl: Although I commend the excellence of the structure, writing and referencing in this article, I wonder if falls fouls of Wikipedia:Recentism, particularly that it is an article created on flimsy, transient merits. I doubt it has any historical significance whatsoever. Why do you think the article is required? --Tagishsimon (talk) 14:37, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I can appreciate the concerns regarding recentism, but I think that—on the balance of things—this is a topic which may have enduring, if perhaps limited, interest. Coverage of the incident has come not just from the UK or Europe but also from countries like the United States and New Zealand, which I think says something about its resonance as an event. While I cannot claim that it is of great historical importance, it is certainly of equal importance to other issues that I have covered here at Wikipedia (e.g. Murder of Dwayne Jones, Suicide of Leelah Alcorn, Bahar Mustafa race row incident, Munroe Bergdorf race row incident), all articles which have made it to GA and in some cases FA status. Very good. I'll not agitate further; and it would not surprise me, given its present high quality, if this one ended up in GA/FA territory. Good work, Midnightblueowl. --Tagishsimon (talk) 14:53, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
