Ryūsuke HamaguchiRyusuke Hamaguchi – His name is written as "Ryusuke Hamaguchi" (without the macron) in almost all official uses I've seen, including the Japanese website for Happy Hour, the Japanese poster for Happy Hour, the festival poster for Wife of a Spy, the French poster for Happy Hour, the French poster for Passion, the French poster for Asako I & II, the sales agent's page for Asako I & II, the press notes for Asako I & II, and on the official industry resource the Japanese Film Database.

The only official use with a macron I at least have seen so far is the US poster and US distributor's page for Asako I & II; I would not give this as much weight as the spellings used by sales agents and on Japanese-run sites, as they have relatively closer contact with the person themselves, whereas US distributors only have contact with them via sales agents.

In English-language contexts, the "Ryusuke Hamaguchi" spelling was also used by New York's Japan Society for their recent online retrospective and is used in Screen International's articles about Wife of a Spy. Tempjrds (talk) 05:20, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per nomination and Rreagan007. The great majority of English-language sources, including those from his native Japan, transliterate subject's name into English without reliance upon diacritics. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 08:15, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
