23rd or 24th?[edit]

Are the bonfires on Midsummer's Eve (late 23rd June) as in the rest of Europe or the 24th? --Error (talk) 11:29, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Connection with Goddess Diana[edit]

According to this Sânziene event and description (Romanian only, sorry, use Google Translate) from the National Museum of Romanian History, a prestigious institution, Sânziana comes from Sancta Diana. Any thoughts? More info? It seems to me that this important information should be in the article. --Codrin.B (talk) 16:42, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Codrin, yes, this is very probable. I found "dzua" archaism for "ziua". Thus the transformation is "Diana" -> "Dziana" -> "Ziana"! It looks to me Romanians spoke before 19th century a very different language than the current language. -- Saturnian (talk) 17:50, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
