Challenging PROD[edit]

I'm removing the PROD for a few reasons:

  • The Hugo Awards is one of the biggest awards in the literature world as far as sci-fi and fantasy goes. It's kind of like the Oscars for these genres. You can see the justification for comparing it to the Oscars by looking at the recognition page on the Hugo Awards article. Winning one would be enough to justify notability, but winning three (one for a podcast) is pretty major. The SFX award doesn't hurt either, as SFX is a major sci-fi magazine.
  • LocusOnline is the website for Locus (magazine), which is seen as a pretty prestigious magazine in the sci-fi/fantasy world as well. I don't use the term "prestigious" lightly when it comes to media outlets. This publication has won many awards over the years, including Hugos. They're reliable. It's also not affiliated with the SF Signal website as far as I am aware - they're completely separate entities.

Now it would be good to have more coverage on the article as a whole, but notability has been met. As far as concerns about this being a common science term, the hatnote resolves this fairly well. However another possibility is to create a redirect for SF signal (lowercase signal) for those typing the term into Wikipedia's search bar. If deletion is still desired, take this to AfD, but the notability standards have been met here. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 12:29, 29 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • However if there is enough justification for the science term to be the main hit for both the capitalized and non-capitalized versions of the name, you can always open up a rename proposal and have this be something like "SF Signal (website)".
