Birth date[edit]

Regarding the subject's birth date, I see three different dates within the article itself. In two places, the article says "November 10, 1928"; a footnote says "November 10, 1927"; and the article is included in the "1925 births" Category. This IMDb link says "November 9, 1927" and a quick look around the web also turns up yet more birth years, such as 1925, 1926, 1929, and ahem 1827).

There is also the (uncited) reference within the article to a birthday celebration on November 10, 2007, which was added to the article in this edit December 10, 2007 edit. I am unaware of any rule that says a birthday celebration must be held on one's actual birthday, but it does lend some weight to the accuracy of "November 10". You could also infer that a milestone (like an 80th birthday, for example) would warrant a phone call from a prominent politician, which supports the accuracy of "1927". All of this is bordering on WP:OR, though, so I believe our most reliable source for this is the cited 1997 book, "Women of Lebanon: Interviews with Champions for Peace" by Nelda LaTeef but, unfortunately, I do not have access to the contents (short of driving over 120 miles to the nearest library that has a copy, that is).

Also, I should mention that I neither read nor speak any Arabic language, so any untranslated Arabic sources are effectively unavailable to me. I did find this January 27, 2011 news article and this June 23, 2011 news article; both state an age of 85 years which, given the dates of the articles, would be consistent with a birth date in late 1925. Along the same lines, a machine translation (if such things can be trusted) of [this October 14, 2011 article in Arabic says her birth date is "November 10, 1925".

Digging deeper through this article's edit history, however, I find that the LaTeef reference was added in this August 29, 2009 edit but it originally said "October 10, 1927". It was changed (without an accompanying edit summary) to "November 10, 1927" in this September 23, 2009 edit. It was changed back to "October 10, 1927" in this October 7, 2009 edit by the editor who had originally added it, Copana2002, along with a pretty clear edit summary stating "source says October 10".

In summary, without the ability to directly verify for myself what the LaTeef book says, I am inclined to assume good faith and accept Copana2002's original contribution of "October 10, 1927". Given that, I have changed the article accordingly.

I welcome discussion here, but if you choose to change/revert the birth date to something other than "October 10, 1927", please be prepared to back it up with at least some verifiable, reliable sources (the article needs more references anyway). Religion[edit]

Was she Christian or Muslim? --46.121.229.243 (talk) 02:25, 27 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

…or something else entirely? Morganfitzp (talk) 06:13, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Given that her body was in a casket and services and burial occurred at two churches, it would seem she was probably Christian and definitely not Muslim. Morganfitzp (talk) 06:13, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Vandalism[edit]

In her "Personal Life" section it was written, "She had many relationships. In one interview, she said one of her ex-husbands usually called her "Mrs. Bank." They married her just because of her considerable fortune, and that's why none of her love relationships worked out successfully, to say nothing of how many times they cheated on her, e.g., Wassim Tabbara. Anwar Mansy allegedly was a poker addict and used to beat her as well. As for Najib Chammas, he wanted her to get away from the spotlights and become a housewife." however, the reference cited said, "Precisely about husbands, she says that she estimates them all. “I dedicate the utmost respect for the deputy Joe Hammoud. My great love was Rushdi Abaza; Fady Loubnan represents the serenity of love. Najib Chammas, my first husband and the father of my son Sabah insisted that this name is borne by the newborn whether a boy or a girl. ” She also had a husband, Anwar Mounsi, with whom she had a daughter, Houaida. She married Sheikh Ahmed Farraj." Would this be considered vandalism? If so, I believe, there is a need for a thorough go-through of the article and the content in the sources. I have cleaned up with the time I had. 24GT (talk) 17:54, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
