Untitled[edit]

There are problems with this page. I am trying for find out about this guy, who I know nothing about, but this page seems to be set up to malign him. It claims: 'he supports violence against women' and then cites articles showing his opposition to a UN report. Which isn't the same thing.

It also claims 'he has made a fatwa against Libyan women marrying foreigners" this maybe true but the citation is a Guardian article that also makes the claim but without evidence. A citation must provide evidence. This appears to be circular. BenkarimUK (talk) 21:12, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

One of the sources used Vivalibya.wordpress.com for at least three references does not have appropriate standing and seems politically motivated.

BenkarimUK (talk) 21:24, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments. Given that you know nothing about this guy, it is thoughtful of you to start your new user account with comments on his talk page.
There was only one piece of information that relied solely on Vivalibya.wordpress.com, which was the violent death of Al-Hadi Al-Asfar. I have added a Libya Herald article to sort that out.
The rest of the article relies on reliable sources. A wide range of news sources are cited. Reliable news sources such as the Guardian do not need to be further sourced. Your argument about the Guardian article being inadequate is therefore not relevant on this talk page. If you feel it isnt a reliable source, go to the talk page on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard
You did make a fair point that he has not publicly supported violence against girls, he has opposed the report opposing violence against girls. I have rephrased the lead paragraph.
Having dealt with all your comments, I shall delete the banner. If you have any further points, please add them on this page (or on the reliable sources talk page, if appropriate)

Actually I will leave the banner, in case you wish to make any further points. Contributorzero (talk) 08:35, 31 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unsupported allegations "Sadiq Al-Ghariani"[edit]

I know this man in person, and I know for fact that most of the information si nothing but allegations, and I know the man behind Libya Herald. I wont mention his name but he belongs to "National Forces Alliance" one of the parties involved in libyan conflict today.

This article states that "has been the Grand Mufti of Libya since 2012. Sadiq Al-ghariani is notable for his opposition to the "UN Report on Violence Against Women and Girls"[1][2][3]"

There is a known fact non muslims mights not know, which is any fatwa or statement from any mufti or grand mufti is officially documented in many forms, either telivised video or phone call, in addition to an official signed document. so you can not submit false allegations, without providing any sorts of evidence that support it in forms of soft copy, video or atleast recorded phone call. refferences:

1- http://www.libyaherald.com/2013/03/11/grand-mufti-condemns-un-report-on-violence-against-women/

I couldnt access this website because it is only available for subscribed users. thsrefore, it shouldnt be accepted in wikipedia as it should be the source of free information.

2- Jones, Susan. "Libya's Grand Mufti Issues Fatwa Against U.N. Report on Women's Rights". CNS News. Retrieved 2014-08-16.

This article is based on ref no '1'
qoute "In a statement quoted by the Libya Herald, the Grand Mufti said he "strongly condemns" the report on women, calling it "unjust and destructive."

therfore, it should not be accepted.

3- "Libyan Religious Leader Calls For Gender Segregation". VOA. Retrieved 4 December 2014.

same thing here, nothing but false qoutes without any hard proof of this allegations, in addition to selling more lies, for example:
"Rebel leaders appointed Sheikh Sadeq al-Ghariani grand mufti during the uprising against Col. Gadhafi. He had held the post under Gadhafi as well."
there was no such position of grand mufti back in Gaddafi's days!!!
"Ghariani became a critic of Gadhafi as the rebellion gained momentum. When the Libyan despot was captured and slain last October, Ghariani ruled Gadhafi an "infidel” and unworthy of prayers."
That is another lie, since he was buried as muslim based on grand mufti instructions.

I can go on and on, and still you could not find any thing that really support these allegations. this page is set up to malign him. There is no such thing as reliable resources, specially after what we have seen through the years, and i recall the war on Iraq that claimd to have WMD's based on reliable Intel resources!!!. there is only facts, and facts must be supported by hard evidence.

For any information about fatwa or statements of grand mufti, you can visit:

I would like to add a point about using Libyan media, due to the current political climate in Libya it is important to understand that the legitimacy of a lot media outlets in Libya are biased; and to be clear this bias lyes in all directions of the political spectrum. Sources for example from the Libyan herald are often quoted on this page but they have come under fire frequently for their publication of misinformation. Please only include verifiable (preferably primary) sources of information.

Secondly I would like to address the issue of the article written by the guardian press that is frequently cited on this page. The guardian came under legal terms and i quote "Lawyers for Sheikh Al-Ghariani contacted us after publication, in July 2015, taking issue with this article. They stated that he stands against terrorism, violence and religious extremism and has called for unity in Libya. They say that events described as ‘the capture of Tripoli by an Islamist militia force’ in fact constitute the rescue of Tripoli, under the authority of the General National Congress, from unlawful forces loyal to General Haftar.".

Disinformation warning by Biomax20[edit]

- I would like to warn users and readers of Wikipedia to be very vigilant when it comes to disclaimers who "Claim" to know Ghariani personally and who disclaim all the so labeled "Rumours" As they so placed about Sadiq Al Ghariani, who's been involved in controversy since 2011. Sympathizers to Sadiq Al Ghariani will disclaim all wrongdoings and vandalize information to make him a saint. I will not revert vandalism already done to this article by them, i will leave it to media to expose him in his own time. This vandalism is work of disinformation agents working to keep Sadiq Ghariani's fragile PR and Tanasoh channel on air. BEWARE OF HIS SYMPATHIZERS

Please be informed that there is a propaganda campaign in Libya by Islamists to win the people's favor, however, it is failing, sympathizers will go to great extents in supporting their self imposed "imam", they are attempting to build a Islamic state through constant media brainwashing. Sadek Ghariani is in Libya and has been Banned from traveling to the UK for his violent inflammatory speeches that boosted the rise of Islamists, including Daesh in Libya. There is a very real fight between Liberals, intellectuals, and Islamists, and this is one. Beware of their lies.

A message for Islamist Sympathizers, You do not understand Democracy, and your version of "overly perfect" islam is the number 1 barrier to fair treatment of all people. If your version of Democracy is what we have today, then you know nothing about it. Is this why we have Nazi symbols scrawled all over Tripoli on homes that belonged to Libyan and Italian jews, or Gay people being beaten up and kidnapped, even killed, because of their sexual preferences? Or Kids dressing up in Comicon costumes and kidnapped and beaten up by Salafist Militias, because they play-dress up as anime characters that look like buddhist monks? Or perhaps arranged marriages of young girls to old men by their mothers at wedding parties, which awfully sound more like wife markets. Or perhaps the constant trips to Tunisia to "Change the oil and crack open a few cold ones with the girls" then come back home and growing a massive beard, then lecturing others what Haram and Halal is? Or perhaps making a few Hundreds of Thousands of dinars, perhaps even millions in profit at black market that, is apparently dominated by Salafists and Wahabists trading cash at the expense of our Country and nation. Is this your version of Democracy? A perfect Islamic State with nothing else other than your version of salafi / Wahabi Islam?

Or is this Qatar's Agenda and Qatar's version of "Democracy"? Tripoli based wahabi Islamists are massive Hypocrites, who overload on righteous zealousy, yet do EXACTLY the opposite of everything they say. Tripoli islamists are oppressing the people worse than Gaddafi's time with their utter failure in governance and with their weekly brainwashing and constant religious radio torture, idiotic radical changes in Laws ( Implying there is any rule of law, since Salafists took control ), their barbaric tribal infighting, and crime of treason of the Highest order to Libya and the well being of Every Libyan through Theft, and corruption of the Libyan culture. Your Kind, your wahabi-salafist Prison escapee zealous, murderous, and EVIL kind are a destroyers of civilization, and anything secular man has acheived over centuries of education and study. What a surprise, that almost every Gold dealer in Libya is a bearded Salafist. Every black market dealer happens to have a beard. Muslim brotherhood is Evil. It has hijacked a popular revolution, and corrupted Libyan core values, it is brainwashing little children with radical lies and is destroying Libya. Terrorists have escaped prisons, and Now hijacked Tripoli, and have turned the whole of Libya into a cesspit of Hypocrites! Biomax20 06:55, 30 August 2017 (GMC)

As for Legality, Sadiq al Ghariani's claims are as Legal as are Haftars. In Libya's current Political environment, The only true Authority in this Anarchy is that of the Gun and the Numbers. I could call Sadiq Al Ghariani
Equally a war criminal just as well as he's labeling Haftar ( The man fighting Salafist Extremists in Benghazi ) a War criminal.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.68.52.231 (talkcontribs)
