At first I was thinking that this should be merged into Saemangeum, but then it seems that the wall itself is quite notable. Thanks to Roisterer for creating this article. -- Visviva 16:12, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Environmental Protests[edit]

The article says this:

The construction of the Saemangeum Seawall has caused controversy from the moment it was announced as environmental groups protested against the impact of the dyke on the local environment.

It would be nice if there was some indication as to the nature of the protests -- which environmental groups were behind the protests, what kind of harm they claimed the dyke would cause, that sort of thing. -- Jonadab, 2012 Apr 14 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.8.75.252 (talk) 00:25, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The world's longest man-made dyke?[edit]

I agree that it's longer then the afsluitdijk in the Netherlands but I don't think this is the longest man made dyke in the world. It's the longest man made causeway in the world. The Flevopolder (an artificial island in the Netherlands)is 970 km2 and all of that is below sea level so the entire land mass is surrounded by a dyke. The Noordoostpolder to the north of that island is surrounded by the Noordoostpolderdijk, a dyke 55 km long. 77.251.114.36 (talk) 13:38, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
