Athletics section starting to take over page

Howdy. Although I love Bearkat sports as much as any Sammer, I'm starting to wonder if the athletics section takes up too much space relative to the rest of the article. I'd like to explore the idea of moving the athletics section to its own article, like many other universities have done. I know it will reduce the size of this article by a fair amount, but I think that will open the way for more academic information, etc. to be written in. Any thoughts? Madmaxmarchhare 16:30, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm going to break out the section in hopes that it will encourage additions to the page proper. It seems to be the way a lot of university pages are going, anyhow. Madmaxmarchhare (talk) 21:37, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Infobox problem

There is content for the 'former names' in the infobox text, but it does not show up in the article. It is in the infobox when editing is attempted, but the information does not show up in the article. Could someone take a look and fix it?-MBK004 03:02, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Parking lot, Really?

Broke out alum section

I broke out the alumni section since it was getting fairly long. Also, the absence of the section underscores how much of the rest of the article needs to be filled in; hopefully the article size reduction will prompt others interested in the university to expand upon its content. Updating this page

Hello - I'm a web administrator at SHSU and will be, with the blessings from the Marketing department, adding some photos, logos and updating text on this page. I'm new to wikipedia and still learning how to make edits so it will be a work in progress. Let me know if you have any input! Laurenlinn (talk) 22:03, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

Welcome! It's great to see the university involved! However, since you, yourself, have stated your newness, I'd recommend you familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's policy on conflict of interest. [1].

The Houstonian

I've recently gone ahead and created an article about the newspaper, The Houstonian (newspaper).

Help with suggestions for additional secondary sources would be appreciated at the article's talk page, at Talk:The Houstonian (newspaper).

Thank you for your time,

Alcalde

The following was removed from alcalde and would fit in this article, just not sure where:

The Alcalde is the name of the annual yearbook of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, published from 1910-1998 and 2003-present, named in honor of Texas Governor Oran Roberts (1815-98), who signed legislature establishing the university in 1879.

Jareha, Probably the place to put it until the History section expands a little more is the Trivia section since you'll be able to put it in there without worrying about how to shoehorn in a topic that doesn't really exist. OF course, you'll have to re-word it somewhat even to do that. Also, what does the name Alcalde have to do with Roberts? Madmaxmarchhare 21:26, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
I'll probably drop this into the article, after a bit of reworking, later today. Roberts was nicknamed "The Old Alcalde". jareha (comments) 22:52, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
Ah, interesting. I'll probably work on the history section this summer, when I've got a little more time. Then, I'll merge in whatever you'll write and it will look spiffy. Madmaxmarchhare 00:33, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Added, hopefully you like the changes. jareha (comments) 01:38, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for adding to everyone's knowledge about SHSU; it looks good! Take care and we'll see you around. Madmaxmarchhare 02:13, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Sam 008.jpg

Image:Sam 008.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Why was the seal removed?

Why was the seal removed? General standard for university pages is to have the seal up top and more modern "marks" down below. I understand that there is an "official" from the university monitoring this page, but that person doesn't have any more say over the content of this page than any other editor. Ommnomnomgulp (talk) 17:19, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

I have had a conversation with the original requester. I will add the logo back in as per our conversation. Ommnomnomgulp (talk) 18:06, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

The Texas Review?

The phrase 'The Texas Review' redirects to the article but isn't even mentioned anywhere in it as far as I can see? JezGrove (talk) 23:46, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
