Limestone?[edit]

Yes, the ranges is mostly limestone; however, note that portions of the eastern side of the range (Goat Mt., Black Mt., the Ash Canyon area, etc.) and, more notably, the highest peak in the range (Salinas Peak), are granite (in the broad sense; I assume this is the same quartz monzonite as in The Needles of the Organ Mts.), while portions of the western bajada, particularly towards the north, have extensive outcrops of Abo Formation redbeds.Paalexan (talk) 09:20, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
