Charles III[edit]

In the inevitable explosion of recent monarchy-related edits, ownership of Sandringham has now been bestowed on Charles III. While that will, almost certainly, be the case, is it, in fact, inevitable, or currently verifiable? As the private property of the late Queen, inherited from her father, who in turn bought it from his brother, it is surely possible that the house/estate could be bequeathed to someone other than Charles? If the lead is to state, as it currently does, that the house belongs to Charles, this should be referenced in the body, with a cite. Does anyone have one? The current status should, IMO, list the properties as privately owned by "the royal family", as that is true and can be made more specific when the disposition of Elizabeth's estate becomes clear. --Dante Alighieri | Talk 18:52, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Think we have sufficient RS now to confirm Charles III intends to spend Christmas there, which implies it is his? Can’t think who he’d ask for permission otherwise. KJP1 (talk) 07:42, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

1862 sale[edit]

In the introduction it says that the estate belonged to Charles Cowper and was sold in 1862 by his brother William Cowper but there is no mention of William in the history section. Did Charles sell the estate to William at some stage? This website says it was sold by Charles, not William, to the future Edward VII in 1862. Anyone know how William comes into it? I have removed the reference to William Cowper as it is not explained anywhere in the text and restored sentence about 1862 sale in intro to December 2020 version, moving the bit about Duchy of Cornwall money to history section, and restoring source. I think that’s right. I’m trying to work out where the William Cowper bit came in. I don’t think it was there at the FAC. KJP1 (talk) 08:36, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It was added 20 December 2020, originally with source, which had somehow got lost. Maybe William was acting on behalf on his brother if Charles was abroad, but I found it confusing to suddenly come across him in the intro with no explanation. Doesn't really matter that much - important thing is it was sold by Cowper family to royal family.Southdevonian (talk) 11:11, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
When I have a moment, I’ll check my sources. KJP1 (talk) 11:45, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
On second thoughts, I have restored the earlier version of the history section. I am not sure about the Gliddon source and there is no mention of Duchy of Cornwall revenue anywhere else. And it didn't really add anything.Southdevonian (talk) 14:10, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why they leave her husband William and the brown and lewis family out ?[edit]

I’m afraid I don’t understand your concern. Who/what are you talking about? KJP1 (talk) 04:47, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
