Population[edit]

@ALSHEIKHULSHEIKH: I see (and have reverted) that you been attempting to update the population in the article. However, the source that you have provided is for the entire country Pakistan, not just Sargodha. The source needs to actually back up the content that you are changing... @ALSHEIKHULSHEIKH: There are similar problems with the last edit. The population figures were sourced with a ref name, but provided no actual ref. The content: Sargodha is 9th largest city of Pakistan and is famous for its orange orchards was sourced with this link. I have blocked a number of accounts over the past week or so for using socks to add this content w/o adequate sources or discussion. Thanks. I see a few sources that call Sargodha the "City of Eagles" ([1][2][3]). I honestly don't know how widespread this nickname is. There could be more sources that elude me, especially due to a language barrier. As for the population rank, the socks had claimed 8th, 9th, and 10th. From what I see, based on the last census (1998), it was 11th. Obviously, that figure is old and out-dated, so ranks could likely vary based on estimates. City population[edit]

This article is about Sargodha City, not Sargodha District or Sargodha Division, which have separate articles. I have reverted the edit by Raginimms2, which used population figures for the District, as they not correct for the City.
The 1998 census figures for the City, published by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, were: population 458,440 with an average annual growth rate of 2.70%.
The January 2015 population estimate of 710,000 by Demographia is consistent with the census figures updated to 2015 using the annual growth rate. The figure 3,282,700 inserted by Raginimms2 was impossibly too large. Apuldram (talk) 09:30, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That annual growth was between 1981 to 1998 not 1998 to 2015. So total population which you have provided is only the urban population of the city. Wrong character in name[edit]

The Urdu/Punjabi name of the city is spelled wrong (both in the lead and the infobox); it should be سرگودھا with a dochashmi he (ھ, Unicode 06BE) but it's currently using the Arabic hah (ه, Unicode 0647), which should never be used in Urdu as it sometimes looks like a dochashmi he and sometimes like a chhoti he, two very separate letters in Urdu. (In this case it's displaying as a chhoti in the Nastaliq font in the article but a dochashmi in the monospaced font in the editor, which is probably where the error arose.)‎ See here for the differences between the three characters. 31.52.113.189 (talk) 23:06, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hopefully  Done. The "Show changes" button yielded edits to both Nastaliq templates, that in the infobox and that in the lead sentence; however, my browser showed the dochashmi he both before and after the edit. MOS and images[edit]

Innocent Paki and Wasi Haider - it is good to see you both collaborating to improve/expand this article. I have not read the material or checked the citations to verify WP:RS because my focus now is on WP:MOS and image position/alignment. As a rule of thumb, we try to keep images aligned on the right side of an article while keeping the captions short and void of stating things that are obvious in the image. If a right alignment cannot be accomplished to be aesthetically pleasing, we occasionally will add an image staggered on the left to avoid sandwiching text tightly in the middle of an article. We must keep in mind how our articles look on cell phones. There are instances when a WP:Gallery presentation is a better option but having only 2 images centered below a section is discouraged.
