Revisions[edit]

The name Sassafras is derived from a mispronunciation of South of France, which the area is said to resemble.[edit]

I am reverting the change made on 31 Dec 2019 by 1.136.107.35 which is both unverified and wrong. The name Sassafras is derived from Sassafras Gully and Sassafras Creek, themselves named for the Southern Sassafras trees (Atherosperma moschatum) that grow along in the gully.
