Because that is the Postal Code for the Town and Village of Saugerties.

This article is terrible.[edit]

In all honesty, I found this article to be extremely poor. The author's grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and spelling are atrocious. For example, is it Katsbann or Katsbaan? Palantine or Palatine? In one instance, because of poor wording, the author literally suggests that the Coast Guard (spelled "coastguard" in the article) fell into a "decay state" after 1954. Other examples of shoddy writing abound in this article; for instance:

"In 1909, in terms of the lighthouse, in the tower a fog bell was installed. Then in 1940 the lighthouse was in dire need of repair in which the town did supply, In the late 1940s in terms of electricity, telephones were added in the town as well as steam heat."

"February 7, 1891 was the first time in Saugerties, New York history that the Electric Light and Power Company turned on the electricity for the first time."

In terms of substance, the author barely scratches the surface. The article focuses on the lighthouse to great extent, yet completely neglects landmarks such as Seamon Park and Opus 40. The latter is represented by a photograph, but no text is supplied to explain its significance. Indeed, the vast majority of the article must be considered questionable, considering that there are virtually no citations or references. The downright careless presentation grants the article little credibility.

Lack of citations[edit]

Lack of citations is bad all right but putting "[citation needed]" after every single statement is pretty irritating. In fact, it doesn't contribute anything because if there's no citation, one can assume that one is needed. DyNama (talk) 06:45, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect, DyNama, it seems to me that the utilization of citations is not obvious to the authors here or they would have included them. Perhaps adding citations is a big mystery to them (I can't blame them for that).
