Addisional cultural reference.[edit]

Is it possible that his image was an inspiration for the chracter of Shrek? The resemblance is strong. It sounds like the pweronality might also have been an influence.

I had Schlitzie as a patient on the Medical wards of LA County General Hospital in 1965. He had no vocabulary. His typical speech was "Oh No" He was admitted to the Medical ward where I was an Intern in 1965. Not because he was ill but because he worked in the circus as the "PIN-HEADED Lady. His circus "Keeper" had had a heart attack and there was no one else to care for him. He was quite polite except when his "Friends" from the circus came to see him. Then he would get rambunctious and "act Out". The tops of his ears were above his skull. I had x-rays taken of his head and body and we made sure he had no life threatening illnesses. As long as his friends from the circus were out of the scene he was quite polite. I practiced in Monterey Calf from 1966 to 1976 when I moved to the Elko Clinic in Elko Nevada. Presence on Family Tree genealogical reference[edit]

Interestingly enough … there doesn’t appear to be a Surtees “daughter” in either found census for George & Dolores. ( There’s a foster son, but, he’s only in the 1920 Census.) So, it’s possible that the part of his life story involving a Surtees daughter is fiction. Dolores died in 1963, and George died in 1965, so, he was left with no “family” at that point. 75.106.32.81 (talk) 07:24, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

W.W.II Draft Card Discrepancies …[edit]

“Schlitzie Surtees” Draft Card, can also be viewed at his FamilySearch entry. According to the card - obviously dictated - his place of birth is given as Albuquerque,New Mexico. His age is given as 37, if he was born in 1901 he should be at least 40. Of further interest, he lives under the same roof / also noted as his place of employment, with “Dolores H. Surtees” ( his adoptive mother ), and “Mrs.Ted Metz” ( his employer). His job, is not noted. And … under notations;”An imbecile.
