Name[edit]

This required some thought since each ESG 29/30/31 (several of the latter) had different names. The EGG notation alone is ambiguous, as any two designs in the same year will appear the same, for example, the ESG 31. Some authors have gone for ESG 31 Stanavo and I'll include a redirect but, as it says in the text, both Schneider and the Swedish museum have used Schlesierland. I only know Simon's treatment of these and he simply uses ESG 31; that's fine in a narrative account of Schneider's gliders but does not really work in type by type, encyclopaedic description. He does emphasise the point that the ESG 31 Grunau Baby "did not much resemble" the 16 m ESG 31 (different wing, fuselage, Empennage etc).

If anyone has much on the Commodore they could make a useful addition. I've only seen a photo and a few specs, the latter pretty close to the ones quoted here for the ESG 31A.TSRL (talk) 20:53, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
