Names[edit]

There have been several similar names uses for fire training facilities in Scotland.

As far as I can tell Scottish Fire Service Training School (SFSTS), could refer to any of 3 facilities:

  • SFSTS Moredun (from the 1940s until it closed in 1953)
  • SFSTS Whitburn (from the 1940s until it closed in 1953)
  • SFSTS Gullane (open 1954, was renamed in 2002)

The Scottish Fire Service College was the name used between 2002 to 2015 for the facility at Gullane (and I can't see that this term was used at other locations). This article was started in 2012 as Scottish Fire Services College with a description of some of the training and I found a 2007 source, an SQA leaflet, that might account for that.

The amalgamation of eight regional fire services, came into effect on 1 April 2013, with at least two College facilities open at this point.

So it seems that Scottish Fire and Rescue Service College (SFRS College) could refer to any of 3 facilities:

  • SFRS College Gullane (from 2013 until it closed in 2015)
  • SFRS College Cambuslang (opened 2013 and is also known as: Scottish Fire and Rescue Service National Training Centre; Uaill Training Centre)
  • SFRS College Portlethen (which was designated a Brigade Training centre previously)

A comma is sometimes used after SFRS College before the location.

I had started a separate article on the SFRS College Gullane but have redirected it here. Drchriswilliams (talk) 18:12, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
